Abstract:
A method for setting up the output volume of audio signals to prevent an acoustic shock and a mobile terminal for the same are provided to previously prevent an acoustic shock by outputting audio signals after determining an output volume value by a preset reference volume value. If a call is terminated, a control part judges whether the terminated call is a picture call or a voice call(200,210). In case that the terminated call is a picture call, the control part displays a call connection screen when a call connection is made. Then the control part outputs audio signals in a normal speaker mode(220). The audio signals are outputted at a default volume value. If a request to adjust the output volume of audio signals is inputted(240), the control part changes the present normal speaker mode to a speaker mode and increase the output volume of audio signals(250).

A method for inputting a character in a mobile terminal is provided to minimize input errors and reduce the number of key inputs when the characters are inputted by using the touch screen embedded in the mobile terminal. A character is displayed in a character arrangement window, which includes at least one reference line for dividing the character arrangement window into a plurality of sections, when a character input mode is executed. The character placed in a predetermined distance from a touch position is enlarged when a user touches the character arrangement window and a display frequency of the displayed character is increased(341). The enlarged character on a dragging path is displayed to a character display window when the user drags the touch position(335). The character having the highest display frequency is enlarged when a plurality of characters are found in the predetermined distance from the touch position.

A method for displaying menus in a terminal device is provided to display menus such that the menus are distinguished from one another according to the menu selection frequency of a user, thereby allowing the user to access frequently used menus easily and fast. A controller recognizes a standby state of a terminal device(S301). The controller checks whether a user selects a menu view function(S303). If the menu view function is selected, the controller displays icons for menus such that the icons are distinguished from one another(S305). The controller checks whether the user selects a specific menu(S307). If the specific menu is selected, the controller executes the selected menu, increases the selection frequency of the selected menu, and then changes an icon of the selected menu(S309). The controller decreases the selection frequency of unselected menus, and then changes icons of the unselected menus(S311).

A method for executing a function through a tap in a mobile terminal equipped with a touch screen is provided to offer convenience by enabling a user to execute a frequent function intuitively when the user uses an application program in the mobile terminal. A predetermined region of a touch screen is linked with a predetermined function of an application program(S31), and the application program is executed and displayed on the touch screen(S33). The predetermined function of the application program is executed when a user taps a position included the predetermined region of the touch screen(S37). The application program includes at least one of capture, music playback, and waiting screen modes. The predetermined function includes at least one of preview, focusing, capture, and storage functions when the application program is the capture mode.

A method for executing a function in a standby screen of a mobile terminal is provided to allow a user to select a widget displayed on a standby screen and easily and quickly execute or simultaneously execute various functions linked to the corresponding widget on the standby screen. When a user turns on a touch screen through a key input or a touch, a controller displays a standby screen image on the touch screen(S31). A widget box is displayed on the standby screen(S33). A user interface mode transfer method in a portable terminal is provided to transfer a mode logically and intuitively coincident with an 8-way mode in transferring a 4-way mode to an 8-way mode on the user interface of a portable terminal. When the present user interface mode is a 4-way navigation key mode, a focus/pointer control module activates a focus and inactivates a pointer(51). A key input signal judgement part judges whether a cornerwise push signal is inputted from a 4-way navigation key(52). If a cornerwise push signal is inputted, the key input signal judgement part transmits it to the focus/pointer control module. Based on the cornerwise push signal, a mode transfer part transfers a 4-way navigation key mode to an 8-way pointer mode. In this case, the focus/pointer control module inactivates the focus and activates the pointer(53). Then the key input signal judgement part judges whether a mode cancel key is pushed(54). If the mode cancel key is inputted, the key input signal judgement part transmits the inputted signal to the focus/pointer control module. Based on the input of the mode cancel key, the mode transfer part transfers the 8-way pointer mode to the 4-way navigation key mode. A method for displaying a background image of a mobile communication terminal is provided to normally display a background image even when a horizontal display mode is set to the mobile terminal. A predetermined image is set as a background image according to user's selection. Position information about a vertical frame and a horizontal frame on the background image is stored, thereby setting the background image. An image corresponding to the horizontal frame of the background image is displayed as a background image in match with the requirement for displaying the screen image of the mobile terminal in the horizontal display mode(241). An image corresponding to the vertical frame of the background image is displayed as a background image in match with the requirement for displaying the screen image of the mobile terminal in the vertical display mode(245).
