Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus for managing reception data in an optical transmission system is provided to manage the reception data, regardless of an optical module characteristic. CONSTITUTION: An optical signal receiver(2) receives an optical signal, and restores the signal to data and a clock, then outputs a selection control signal, depending on whether the optical signal is received. A converter(4) converts the received data and the received clock into reception data and a reception clock, with a transmission speed and a method suitable for a reception processing. A transmission clock generator(20) drives a system clock, and generates a transmission clock with the same transmission speed as the reception clock has. A selector selectively outputs the reception clock and the transmission clock according to the selection control signal. A data processor(6) manages data by using a clock selected by the selector, and transmits various control signals and data.
