Abstract: A washing machine is provided to perform sterilization of laundry and washing of a washing tub by using a pair of electrodes without a separate detergent. A washing machine(1) comprises: a body cabinet(10); a washing tub(20) accepted in the body cabinet; silver; a first electrode(61) emitting silver ion; titanium; a second electrode(63) electrolyzing the washing water by reacting to the first electrode; a power supply unit applying power on the first electrode and the second electrode and inverting the polarity of the second electrode and the first electrode; a controller controlling the power supply unit in order to applying the power on the second electrode after applying the power on the first electrode; a circulating pipe connected from the lower region of the washing tub to the upper region of the washing tub through the outside of the washing tub; and a circulating pump being equipped in the circulating pipe and transferring the washing water.

Abstract: A control method of a washing machine is provided to improve sterilization efficiency by controlling the driving time of an electrolyzing part according to concentration of salt. A control method of a washing machine comprises: a step(S5) for supplying washing water and salt in a washing tub; a step(S9) for measuring the initial current value of the washing water; a step(S13) for producing the driving time of an electrolyzing part based on the measured initial current value; and a step(S15) for operating the electrolyzing part for the calculated driving time. The step for producing the driving time comprises: a step(S11) for producing concentration of salt based on the measured current value; and a step for producing the driving time of the electrolyzing part based on the calculated concentration of the salt.
