Abstract: A washing machine is provided to reduce vibration of a housing by installing a built-out vibration reducing unit at an outer surface of the housing. A washing machine comprises a housing, a water tank, a rotary tub, and a built-out vibration reducing unit(60). The built-out vibration reducing unit has a mass(61), a vibration reducing case(62), an elastic member(63), and a cover(65). The mass has predetermined weight. The vibration reducing case is opened to one side, and wherein the mass is movably installed. The elastic member, of which one end is installed at the mass and the other end is installed at the vibration reducing case, helps the mass to be installed at the vibration reducing case. Abstract: A drum type washing machine is provided to prevent the vibration from being transferred to the floor surface and reduce the vibration noise by mounting the vibration damping apparatus on the lower surface of the casing. A drum type washing machine comprises a vibration damping apparatus(24) containing an elastic member for damping the vibration transferred to the floor surface, and an elastic force controlling apparatus for increasing the elastic force of the elastic member and controlling the effect of the vibration transferred to the elastic member by varying the shape of the elastic member.
