Abstract: A method for transmitting and receiving resource allocation information in a wireless communication system is provided to efficiently use system resources by reducing the overhead of resource allocation information in an OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Access) system. A BS(Base Station) collects the resource allocation information of an SS(Subscriber Station) in order to allocate uplink resources to the SS(401). At this moment, the BS sets the ID of the SS and the amount of resources to be allocated in order to configure the resource allocation information. The BS asks the SS whether this is the first time resources are allocated(403). If so, the BS sets and adds resource allocation start offset information and resource allocation period information(405). Then the BS transmits initial resource allocation information to the SS, including the ID of the SS, the amount of resources to be allocated, the resource allocation start offset information, and the resource allocation period information(407), and allocates resources to the SS(409).

Abstract: A method and a system for transmitting signals in a communication system are provided to transmit messages having the same MCS level as a compressed-MAP together, thereby reducing the number of bursts and reducing a size of a MAP message by using the number of MAP IE. A method for transmitting signals in a communication system comprises the following steps. A BS(Base Station) confirms whether or not one or more than one MAC management messages having the same MCS(Modulation and Coding Scheme) level as a compressed-MAP message are present(601).
