Abstract: A method for providing a broadcasting service in a wide area network is provided to enhance reliability in transmitting a broadcast control message for stably providing the broadcasting service, to bill the broadcasting service accurately, and to reduce time in changing channels. If the authentication is successful, the base station transmits the IGMP/MLD Join message to a serving SFA(Service Flow Authorization)(422). The serving SFA performs authentication on a requested MBS service in response to the received IGMP/MLD Join message(424), and transmits the message to an anchor SFA(426). The anchor SFA performs authentication on the requested MBS service in response to the received IGMP/MLD Join message(428), and transmits an RR-REQUEST message to the serving SFA wherein the RR-REQUEST message is for requesting a connection setup for transmitting a broadcast data stream(430). The serving SFA transmits the RR-REQUEST message to the base station(432). The base station generates a multicast CID in correspondence to a connection for transmitting a data stream of the corresponding broadcast service, and transmits the multicast CID to the mobile terminal(434).
