따라서 본 발명은 휴대용 단말기에서 문자메시지 수신자가 수신한 문자메시지를 확인할 때까지 메시지 수신알림을 출력할 수 있는 방법 및 장치를 제공한다.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for transmitting and receiving a text message by using a portable terminal are provided to enable a transmitter to set importance of the text message and transmit the text message, and output message reception notification in case of an emergency text message until a receiver checks the received text message. In a method for transmitting and receiving a text message, a first portable terminal sets importance information of a message when making a text message and transmits the made text message to a second portable terminal. The second portable terminal receives the text message and generates reception notification according to the importance information of the received text message until a user checks the reception(S304,S305).
