Abstract: An apparatus and a method for transmitting and receiving a text message by using a portable terminal are provided to enable a transmitter to set importance of the text message and transmit the text message, and output message reception notification in case of an emergency text message until a receiver checks the received text message. Abstract: A call forwarding method in a portable terminal is provided to improve the convenience of users by enabling a user to confirm the caller information of a call received to his portable terminal through his portable terminal even though his portable terminal is in call forwarding mode.
