Abstract: The present invention relates to a frequency error estimating method based on an OFDM system and a device thereof. The frequency error estimating method based on the OFDM system according to the present invention comprises; a step of receiving an OFDM signal in which a pilot subcarrier is inserted from a transmission terminal and Fourier-transforming the received OFDM system; a step of grouping pilot subcarriers having a specific phase difference between the pilot subcarriers included in the OFDM signal as a sub group; a step of changing the pilot subcarriers included in the sub group as the same phase; a step of calculating a correlation value between adjacent subcarriers according to the each sub group and adding the correlation values obtained in the sub group; and a step of selecting an integer multiple frequency error estimating value in which the added value of the correlation values becomes a maximum value. According to the present invention, the calculation complexity can be reduced in comparison with a traditional technique by reducing complex multiplication calculation between the adjacent subcarriers of the correlation calculation of the subcarriers. Also, high costs generated in the actual implementation and the number of hardware can be reduced.

Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for estimating an integer frequency offset and detecting a cell ID are provided to reduce hardware costs and the number of hardware and to reduce calculation complexity. CONSTITUTION: A fast Fourier transform unit(100) performs the fast Fourier transform of a PS(Primary Synchronization) signal received from a transmitter from a time domain axis to a frequency domain axis in a receiver. A first correlation value calculation unit(110) calculates the correlation values of left sub carriers and right sub carriers of a DC sub carrier in the fast Fourier transformed PS signal, and multiplies the symmetrical correlation values. A first signal sample adder(120) calculates the sum of the correlation values multiplied in the first correlation calculation unit. An integer frequency offset estimator(130) selects a real part of a value outputted from the first signal sample adder, and estimates an integer frequency offset by obtaining the maximum value from the real part. A second correlation calculation unit(140) calculates the correlation values of the left sub carriers and the right sub carriers of the DC sub carrier in the signal whose integer frequency offset is compensated, and multiplies the symmetrical correlation values. A second signal sample adder(150) calculates the sum of the correlation values multiplied in the second correlation calculation unit. A cell ID detector(160) selects a real part of a value outputted from the second signal sample adder, and detects a cell ID by obtaining the maximum value from the real part.
