Abstract: An intra prediction process, a method and an apparatus for an image encoding and decoding process using the intra prediction process are provided to perform image encoding and decoding processes in a unit of rows after setting a prediction pixel value in a unit of rows. An intra prediction process comprises the following steps of: selecting the i-th prediction pixel value using a recovered reconstruction pixel value of M*N object block; recovering the i-th residual coefficients of the object block by performing an inverse-quantization process and an inverse process corresponding to a quantization coefficients outputted from an input bit stream; and computing the i-th reconstruction pixel value of the object block by computing the i-th residual coefficients and the i-th prediction pixel value.
