    Abstract: A method for controlling flowering time of plant by using ECL1 gene is provided to induce the early or late flowering of plants, and increase production yield of flowers and seeds or production amount of leaf and stem. The flowering time of plant is regulated by regulating the expression of a polynucleotide encoding ECL1 protein having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2, wherein the plant is Arabidopsis thaliana; the polynucleotide encoding the ECL1 protein has the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:1; the flowering time of Arabidopsis thaliana is promoted by overexpression of ECL1 gene in Arabidopsis thaliana by introducing a recombinant vector containing the polynucleotide encoding the ECL1 protein into Arabidopsis thaliana; the flowering time of Arabidopsis thaliana is delayed by deletion of ECL1 gene or combining the antisense molecule to the polynucleotide encoding the ECL1 protein in Arabidopsis thaliana; and the introduction of recombinant vector into Arabidopsis thaliana is accomplished by Agrobacterium sp.-mediated method, particle gun bombardment, silicon carbide whiskers, sonication, electroporation or PEG(polyethylene glycol) precipitation.
