Abstract: PURPOSE: A receiving apparatus in an OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) system is provided to detect reception signals by estimating distortion matrices combining the unbalanced component of in-phase signals and Quadrature-phase signals and a channel frequency response characteristic. CONSTITUTION: A distortion matrix estimating unit receives a preamble signal including two different long training field symbols. The distortion matrix estimating unit estimates a distortion matrix. An OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) signal processing unit compensates for distortion components from the reception signals by using the distortion matrix. A transmitter includes a preamble generation unit and an OFDM signal processing unit. The preamble generation unit transmits the preamble through two symbol periods by applying Alamouti technique to make a 2x2 non-singular matrix. The OFDM signal processing unit processes transmission signals and the preamble by OFDM.
