    Abstract: PURPOSE: A biological removing method of heavy metal from wastewater using a packed bed reactor containing organic media is provided, which can treat heavy metal contained wastewater simply in a reduced time by using insoluble solid organic matter (organic media) that can function as a source of nutrients for microorganism and by controlling hydraulic retention time (HRT) according to the concentration of metal contained in wastewater. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises as follows: (i) neutralize wastewater using lime stone; (ii) mix with sludge of anaerobic digestion tank; and (iii) feed the mixture to a packed bed reactor packed with solid organic matters for reduction treatment of wastewater containing heavy metal using sulfate reducing bacteria, the organic matter being a mixture of paper manufacturing sludge and waste oak remaining after culturing Lentnus edodes, the heavy metal being sexivalent chrome, sexivalent uranium and sexivalent selenium.
