Abstract: PURPOSE: An image recognizing apparatus using a scalable compact local descriptor and a method thereof are provided to generate scalable feature descriptors having different sizes and different processing speeds according to purposes, thereby differently extracting the descriptors according to descriptor storage spaces and the performance of an extractor. CONSTITUTION: A feature descriptor extractor extracts scalable compact local feature descriptor information, for recognizing an object, from input image information. A database (140) includes a plurality of feature descriptor information.
