    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method and device for controlling an automatic gain are provided to receive a signal through a communication device, thereby automatically and stably controlling a gain. CONSTITUTION: A signal receiving unit(110) receives a radio frequency signal. A low noise amplifier(120) low-noise-amplifies the radio frequency signal using an LNA gain value. A mixer(130) outputs a baseband signal by mixing an radio frequency signal of the low noise amplifier with a frequency supplied form a local oscillating unit(140). A radio frequency signal passed through a low pass filter unit(150) is amplified by a receiving signal variable gain amplifying unit(170). The radio frequency signal passed through the low pass filter unit is transmitted to an automatic gain control block(190) through an indicating unit(160). An amplified radio frequency signal is converted into a digital value by an analog digital converter(180). An automatic gain control block determines an LNA gain value and a VGA gain value.
