Abstract: PURPOSE: A drum brake device using an eddy current and magnetic reluctance is provided to generate a braking force during a high speed driving section and a low speed driving section of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A drum brake device using an eddy current and magnetic reluctance comprises a drum(20), a plurality of electromagnets(30), a ring-shaped inner drum(60), a shoe(70), an actuator(80), and an elastic body(90). A conductor(21) is attached in the inner periphery of the drum. The electromagnets are radially arranged on a plate(40) installed in the inside of the drum. The ring-shape inner drum is installed in a central part of the plate and includes a plurality of permanent magnets(50) which are radially installed. The shoe comprises a first shoe(70-1) and a second shoe(70-2) and is installed between the electromagnets and the inner drum. A magnetic material(71) and a non-magnetic material(72) are successively attached to the shoe. The actuator is installed in a one end between the first shoe and the second shoe and moves the shoe in order to locate the magnetic material between the electromagnets and the permanent magnet. The elastic body is installed in the other end between the first shoe and the second shoe and applies an elastic force returning the shoe to an original position.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A drive shaft and a method for fabricating the same are provided to improve coupling reliability by inserting a metal insert into a composite material tube in order to maximize a torque transferring efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A composite material tube(101) is fabricated through a filament winding process. A metal insert tube(103) is formed in such a manner that the metal insert tube(103) has an outer diameter identical to an inner diameter of the composite material tube(101) while maintaining a plus tolerance therebetween. A metal universal joint(102) is formed in such a manner that the metal universal joint(102) has an inner diameter substantially identical to an outer diameter of the composite material tube(101) while maintaining a minus tolerance therebetween. Due to expansion of the metal insert tube(103) and compression of the metal universal joint(102), frictional force between the metal universal joint(102) and the composite material tube(101) is greater than maximum transfer torque.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A drum brake and a method thereof using eddy current are provided to implement noncontact type braking using eddy current and contact type braking using the existing brake shoe according to situation alternatively. CONSTITUTION: A drum brake using eddy current comprises a drum(10), a first brake shoe(20), a second brake shoe(30), a piston(40), and a stopper(60). The drum revolves with a wheel of a vehicle. The first brake shoe is installed inside the drum. The first brake shoe includes lining(23), having a magnetic material(21) and a non-magnetic material inside thereof, on the outer circumference. The second brake shoe is coupled to slide on the first brake shoe and comprises a plurality of permanent magnets(31) put opposite to the non-magnetic material. The piston is installed on one side of the second brake shoe and makes the second brake shoe slide opposite to the magnetic material. The stopper is fixed on the first brake shoe and stops the sliding of the second brake.
