Abstract:
Articles having silanol coatings and methods of making the articles are provided. More specifically, articles include a substrate and a coating attached to a major surface of the substrate. The silanol coating includes an aminosilanol polymer that is a reaction product of water and an aminosilane. The silanol coating adheres to but is not covalently bonded to the substrate. If desired, the silanol coating can be removed from the article by dissolution in water. The silanol coating can be provided on a large variety of substrates and tends to provide improved resistant to fogging.

A melt additive compound has the general formula (I) wherein R represents a linear alkylene group having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms; n represents an integer from 1 to 4, inclusive; and R f 1 is represented by the general formula II wherein R f represents a perfluorinated group having from 3 to 5 carbon atoms. Compositions comprising a thermoplastic polymer and the melt additive compound, methods of extruding them and extruded articles are also disclosed.

The disclosure provides partially fluorinated piperazine carboxamide compounds having terminal fluoroaliphatic groups and polysiloxane groups. This invention also relates to polymer compositions comprising the fluorochemical composition and shaped articles made from the thermoplastic composition. See Formula (I).

The present invention provides a novel partially fluorinated piperazine carboxamide compound, and polymer composition comprising the fluorinated compound and a thermoplastic or thermoset polymer. The polymer composition is useful in preparing shaped articles such as fibers and films which have desirable oil- and water repellency properties.
