    Abstract: The release composition includes a siloxane polymer having a weight average molecular weight of at least 1000 grams per mole, a first crosslinker and a second crosslinker, each crosslinker independently a compound represented by formula Si(OR5)4 or R1Si(OR5)3, or a compound having at least two groups represented by formula -Si(R4)x(OR5)3-x, and a photoacid generator. The siloxane polymer includes repeating divalent units represented by formula and at least two functional groups selected from silanol, alkoxysilane, -Si(OR2)y(R")3-y, and a combination thereof. In these formulas, each R is independently alkyl, each R2 is independently hydrogen or alkyl, each R" is independently alkyl or aryl, y is 1, 2, or 3, each R4 is independently alkyl or aryl, each R1 and R5 is independently alkyl; and x is 0 or 1. An article including a cured reaction product of the release composition and a method of making the article are also described.

    Abstract: Release layers that can be included in various adhesive tape products and release liners for adhesive layers are provided. The release layer is a cured reaction product of a curable release composition that contains i) a siloxane polymer having at least two hydrolyzable groups and having a weight average molecular weight of at least 1000 Daltons, ii) a crosslinker, iii) a silane additive, iv) a photoacid generator, and v) an optional silicate resin. The crosslinker is a compound of formula Si(OR 5 ) 4 or is a compound having at least two silyl groups of formula -Si(R 4 )x(OR 5 ) 3 -x where R 4 is alkyl or aryl, R 5 is alkyl, and the variable x is an integer equal to 0 or 1. The silane additive is a compound having two silyl groups of formula -Si(R 6 ) 2 (OR 7 ) or a single silyl group of formula -Si(R 10 )(OR 9 ) 2 where R 6 is alkyl or aryl, R 7 is alkyl, R 9 is alkyl, and R 10 is alkyl or aryl.

    Abstract: A method of making an adhesive article comprises three steps. First, a backing is provided having first and second opposed major surfaces with respective first and second silicone release layers disposed thereon. The second silicone release layer further comprises organic solvent and a compound represented by the formula: R 1 represents a monovalent, divalent, or trivalent hydrocarbon radical having from 2 to 40 carbon atoms or covalent bond. R f represents a perfluorinated group having from 3 to 5 carbon atoms. X 1 represents -NH- or a covalent bond. Second, an adhesive layer is disposed onto the first silicone release layer. Third, the adhesive layer is exposed to E-beam radiation within a process chamber containing oxygen to provide a crosslinked adhesive layer. An adhesive article made by the method and the compound are also disclosed.

    Abstract: Provided are methods of making a transfer tape in which first and second release coatings are disposed onto respective first and second major surfaces of a backing to provide a release liner, the first release coating comprising wax particles at least partially embedded in a polymeric layer. An adhesive precursor is coated onto the first release coating and the adhesive precursor and the release liner collectively irradiated with an electron beam to convert the adhesive precursor into an adhesive layer. Advantageously, the provided transfer tape can be wound into a roll and stored for long periods without exhibiting degradation of release properties attributable to either blocking or electron beam degradation of the liner release coating.
