Abstract:
The disclose provides pressure-sensitive adhesives and adhesive sealants prepared from modified, crosslinked isobutylene copolymers, and tape articles prepared therefrom.
Abstract:
An epoxy-functional coupling agent comprises a reaction product of a polyepoxide and an aminosilane represented by the formula HNR 1 R 2 . R 1 represents Z-SiL 3 and R 2 represents Z-SiL 3 or an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms. Each Z independently represents a divalent linking group having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms, and each L independently represents a hydrolyzable group. The coupling agent may be used to treat a substrate such as an abrasive particle, which may be included in a resin bond abrasive article.
Abstract:
A method for preparing an acrylate adhesive is provided by the steps of partially polymerizing a monomer mixture to provide a syrup polymer composition having a high molecular weight solute copolymer. This first syrup composition is again polymerized to provide a second syrup polymer composition having a low molecular weight copolymer. The second syrup polymer composition is provided with a crosslinking agent and further polymerized to provide the adhesive composition.
Abstract:
An adhesion promoter coating composition includes an oligomeric alkylalkoxysiloxane and a compound comprising an electrophile moiety and an alkoxysilyl moiety. The electrophile moiety may contain a sulfide functional group, for example. A dust suppression coating composition includes an acrylic polymer comprising a quaternary ammonium moiety; and an oligomeric alkylalkoxysiloxane. The coating composition may be applied to roofing granules, and/or asphaltic compositions, among other things.
Abstract:
The disclosure provides pressure-sensitive adhesives and adhesive sealants prepared from alkoxysilane modified, crosslinked isobutylene copolymers, and tape articles prepared therefrom. The adhesive is particularly useful in bonding optical displays.
Abstract:
A curable composition comprising a silicone, a halomethyl-1,3,5-triazine and optionally a silicate tackifier is disclosed. The compositions are useful in the preparation of pressure-sensitive adhesives and release coatings.
Abstract:
Presently described are methods of preparing a pressure sensitive adhesive composition comprising providing a non-aqueous pressure sensitive adhesive comprising a (meth)acrylic copolymer comprising epoxy-functional groups; adding a chlorinated triazine crosslinker to the pressure sensitive adhesive; and coating the pressure sensitive adhesive onto a substrate. In some embodiments, the method may further comprise contacting the pressure sensitive adhesive to a second substrate. The method further comprises exposing the pressure sensitive adhesive to actinic radiation to crosslink the epoxy-functional groups by means of the triazine crosslinker. The step of exposing can occur at the time of manufacture (e.g. of a pressure sensitive adhesive coated articles such as a tape) or at the time of use. Also described are non-aqueous pressure sensitive adhesive compositions and adhesive-coated articles.
Abstract:
Acrylic syrup polymer composition are provided by partially polymerizing a (meth)acrylic monomer mixture in the presence of a thiol chain transfer agent to produce a first syrup polymer composition comprising a low molecular weight solute (meth)acrylic copolymer and solvent monomers, quenching the chain transfer agent, further polymerizing the first syrup polymer composition to produce a second syrup polymer composition comprising the low molecular weight solute acrylic copolymer, a high molecular weight solute acrylic copolymer and optionally unreacted solvent monomers, optionally adding a crosslinker and photoinitiator; and further photopolymerizing the syrup polymer composition to produce a pressure-sensitive adhesive.
