Abstract: Described herein is a construction comprising (a) a support sheet having a base, comprising (i) a plurality of rails extending from the base wherein each rail of the plurality of rails extends continuously down a length of the support sheet and each rail comprises a first side surface and an opposing second side surface and a top surface; and (ii) a plurality of first protrusions extending from the base, wherein the plurality of first protrusions are located between the plurality of rails; and (b) a selectively permeable membrane having a first major membrane surface contacting at least the top surface of at least two rails enclosing a flow channel having a height extending between the base of the support sheet and the first major membrane surface, wherein the plurality of protrusions change the height of the flow channel along its length along the longitudinal axis of the flow channel.

Abstract: An assembly includes an enclosure including first and second regions spaced apart along a first direction, and a plurality of spaced apart acoustic baffles arranged along a second direction different from the first direction and disposed in the enclosure between the first and second regions. Abstract: An acoustic absorbing panel adapted for use with computers and servers includes a first layer and an opposing second layer, and a core disposed between the first and second layers, the core including walls extending between the first and second layers and defining a series of cells, each cell being at least partially surrounded by a wall, adjacent cells being interconnected via an opening in the at least one wall. The panel includes a through hole in the first layer or the second layer. The hole may be aligned with a cell in a series of cells. The panel has an absorption band at a frequency between 800 Hz and 12000 Hz. The panel may include a flame resistant polymer composition. The panel may be mounted on the frame of an electronics enclosure. The electronics enclosure may be a server rack or a case of a computer or server.

Abstract: Provided acoustic devices include an external housing defining an expansion chamber and a wall extending through and partitioning the expansion chamber into a central chamber and a peripheral chamber adjacent the central chamber, wherein an inlet and outlet communicate with the central chamber, and wherein the wall includes a plurality of apertures formed therethrough to allow air movement to and from the central and expansion chambers, the plurality of apertures sized to provide an average flow resistance ranging from 100 MKS Rayls to 5000 MKS Rayls. The acoustic devices advantageously show significant sound attenuation while streamlining air flow to reduce pressure drop across the expansion chamber.

Abstract: Panels comprising first and second layers and a core disposed there between, wherein the core has a plurality of walls providing a series of connected cells, wherein some of the cell walls have openings providing fluid communication between a series of at least 3 cells, and wherein the opening in a cell wall has an area that is at least 50 percent of the area of a side of that cell wall. Exemplary embodiments of panels described herein can be formed articles such as panels, walls, or other parts with curved surfaces. In one exemplary method, panels are shaped via thermoforming. In another exemplary method, panels are shaped via insert molding to provide the article. In another exemplary method, panels are shaped via compression molding to provide the article. The panels are useful for absorbing sound in a designed frequency range.
