A signal outputted from a signal source 12 is inputted into a port 1 on one side of a measured device 40 through the test port 30 and the signal separator 26, and a signal outputted from a port 2 on the other side is led to a receiving circuit 14 through the changeover switch 24, a signal wire 36, and the changeover switch 25, and detected to measure the transmission coefficient S21.

The apparatus has a network analyzer 10 for analyzing a characteristic of the device to be tested by vector values, and a multiport test set 50 connected to the ports of the network analyzer 10 for converting by an internal switch the ports of the network analyzer 10 to three or more ports. The multiport device 30 to be tested is connected to the multiport test set 50, without going through a converter. Data for the device characteristics are analyzed by vector values.
