Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a radiation measuring apparatus which prevent a background level by Cherenkov radiation from being increased. CONSTITUTION:In a simultaneous counting type radiation measuring apparatus, one pair of photomultiplier tubes 8a, 8b which simultaneously count photons converted by a scintillator 2 are provided with reference to the scintillator 2 which converts a radiation into photons. In the simultaneous counting type radiation measuring apparatus, transparent shielding members 4a 4b, which correspond to the individual photomultiplier tubes 8a, 8b are arranged between the scintillator 2 and the photomultiplier tubes 8a, 8b so as to be separated optically. Consequently, since Cherenkov radiation which is generated in the transparent shielding member 4a (or 4b) on one side does not reach the transparent shielding member 4b (or 4a) on the other side, it can be removed as a noise, and the radiation can be measured at a low background.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the directional dependency of sensitivity by arranging a plurality of detecting units in such a manner that the detecting faces of a first plate detector are conformed to each other, and the detecting faces of a second plate detector are turned in mutually different directions. CONSTITUTION:Detecting units 12-18 have the same structure, and the unit 12 is formed of first and second plate detectors 12a, 12b. Both the detectors, which have square plate forms, are combined and arranged in such a manner that one-side sides are adjacent to each other, and the mutual directions of the detecting faces are vertical or of L-shape. The lead wires drawn from the adjacent sides transmit electric signals generated in both the detectors to the following circuits. The units 12-18 are arranged on the same plane in such a manner that the detecting faces of detectors 12a-18a are turned in the same direction, and the detecting faces of detectors 12b-18b of the adjacent detecting units mutually form right angles. Thus, the radiations incident from the side surface direction of the detectors 12a-18a can be trapped by the detecting faces of the detectors 12b-18b, and the reduction in sensitivity in the side surface direction is reduced.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To detect the intensity of radiation emitted from a sample surface with high accuracy by detecting radiation contamination on the sample surface under a vacuum. CONSTITUTION:Plural photomultiplier tubes 18 are arranged on the wall surface of a vacuum container 21, a sample mount base 22 is provided in the container 21, and a sample 10 is placed on the base 22. Then, a scintillator plate 16 is arranged between the sample 10 and photomultiplier tubes 18. The container 21 is further provided with a discharge tube 23 and a vacuum pump 24 is driven to evacuate the container 21 to a vacuum. Thus, the vacuum is produced in the container 21 to increase the range of the radiation from the sample 10 and therefore detect the quantity of radiation from a recessed part of the sample 10 with high accuracy.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply discard a part where contamination is generated at the time of the collection of a blood specimen and to simply and rapidly collect the blood specimen. SOLUTION: A blood specimen collecting coupler 10 is constituted of a coupling part 16 equipped with a collection needle 20 and a vol. variable part 18. The collection needle 20 is thrust through the sealing cock 34 of a blood collecting tube 12 and a collection container 14 is mounted on a seal part 30. If the vol. variable part 18 is elastically deformed to increase and decrease the pressure in the collection container 14, the blood specimen in the blood collecting tube 12 can be taken in the collection container 14 through the collection needle 12. If a valve structure is provided in the vol. variable part 18, the outflow air from the interior of the coupling part is permitted and the inflow of air from the outside can be prevented and, by this constitution, pressure can be increased and decreased under atmospheric pressure or less.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a radiation detection apparatus by which the detection result for neutrons and the detection result for γ-rays or the like are obtained by one detector only. CONSTITUTION: A converter layer 12 which is composed of LiF emits heavy charged particles such as α-rays or the like when neutrons are incident. As a result of the thickness setting of the converter layers 12, the heavy changed particles which are emitted from the converted layer 12 so as to be incident on a detector 10 have energy at a definite value or higher. The thickness of a depletion layer is set to be larger than the range of the incident heavy charged particles and to be smaller than the range of β-rays at prescribed energy which is lower than that of the incident heavy charged particles. As a result, the detector 10 absorbes energy wholly, it outputs detection pulses at a definite level or higher, and it outputs only detection pulses at a definite leverl or lower regarding incident γ-rays or the like. Consequently, when the output pulses of the detector 10 are pulse-height-discriminated, a detection result regarding the neutrons and a detection result regarding the γ-rays can be obtained simultaneously.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a positron detection apparatus by which the radioactivity of a positron nuclide can be measured precisely regarding a sample containing a disturbing nuclide and which can cover a wide measuring range. CONSTITUTION: A positron detection apparatus comprises two detection parts, i.e., a first detection part up to a simultaneous counting circuit 16 from scintillation detectors 10a, 10b and a second detection part up to a simultaneous counting circuit 26 from scintillation detectors 20a, 20b. In the respective detection parts, detection signals of the opposite scintillation detectors as one pair are counted simultaneously by the simultaneous counting circuit 16 or 26, and only pulses which are caused by a positron nuclide can be extracted. Since the volume of a scintillator part is different from each other in the respective detection parts, the detection efficiency of the respective detection parts is different from each other. Consequently, when the radioactivity of a sample exceeds the detection limit of every detection part having a large volume, the measured value of every detection part having a small volume is adopted. Thereby, a measured value whose accuracy is high over a wide measuring range can be obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a highly accurate dust monitor in which the adhesion of dust to a detection system is suppressed. CONSTITUTION: An exhaust pipe 14a extending from an exhaust section 14 is coupled with a pump which is operated to introduce the outer air through an air introduction pipe 10. The outer air is introduced through the air introduction pipe 10 into a filter paper chamber 100 where the outer air passes through a sampling filter paper 18 and discharged through the exhaust pike 14a. A doughnut type scintillator plate 20 is fixed to the case 12 while opposing the sampling filter paper 18 and the air introduction pipe 10 is inserted into a through hole of the scintillator plate 20. The scintillator plate 20 constitutes one wall face of the filter paper chamber 100, i.e., one wall face of an air channel, and a photomultiplier 24 is disposed on the outside of the air channel. Since the photomultiplier 24 is not exposed directly to the air flow, dust scarcely adheres thereto.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a radiation measuring equipment in which the incident radiation dose can be measured accurately by suppressing the count miss caused by piling up of output pulse signal from a detector when radiation from an accelerator facility, where the radiation from an object 15 known, is monitored, for example. CONSTITUTION:An output pulse signal from a detector 10 is amplified through a preamplifier 11 and a main amplifier 12 and a pulse, having a peak value higher than a predetermined value, is discriminated through a peak discriminator 13 before being counted by means of a counter 14. An A/D converter 15 converts an output pulse signal from the preamplifier 11 into a digital value representative of the number of radiation particles corresponding to the peak value of the pulse signal. A correction operating unit 16 corrects the count of the counter 14 based on the digital value obtained from the A/D converter 15.
