    Abstract: Systems and methods for multitasking using touch-sensitive devices are disclosed. An example method includes: displaying a first set of applications in a display area that occupies substantially all of a touch-sensitive display (TSD). While displaying the first set of applications: displaying a dock overlaying a first portion of the display area; detecting a contact over a first affordance displayed within the dock, and the first affordance is associated with a second set of applications; detecting movement of the contact away from the dock. Upon detecting a liftoff of the contact from the TSD while the contact is over a second portion of the display area different from the first portion, the method further includes: displaying (i) at least some of the first set of applications and (ii) at least some of the second set of applications in the display area that occupies substantially all of the touch- sensitive display.

    Abstract: An electronic device displays a first application and a second application along an edge of the display and, while concurrently displaying the first and second applications, detects an edge-swipe gesture. In response, if the location corresponds to a location of a respective application on the display, the respective application is associated with standard edge-swipe gesture criteria, and the edge-swipe gesture meets the standard edge-swipe gesture criteria, the device performs a system operation that includes displaying a system user interface at a portion of the display previously occupied by at least a portion of the first application and at least a portion of the second application; if the location of the edge-swipe gesture corresponds to a location of the respective application, the respective application is associated with enhanced edge-swipe gesture criteria, and the edge-swipe gesture does not meet the enhanced edge-swipe gesture criteria, the device forgoes performing the system operation.

    Abstract: While concurrently displaying representations of a plurality of recently used applications, including a first application representation that corresponds to a first application and a second application representation that corresponds to a second application, at least a first portion of a first user input, including first movement of an input object, is detected.     Abstract: An electronic device displays an application switching user interface. The device, while displaying the application switching user interface, detects a touch gesture by a contact that starts within the application switching user interface and includes movement by the contact in a first direction. In response to the touch gesture that starts within the application switching user interface and includes movement by the contact in the first direction: if the touch gesture includes movement by the contact in the first direction and started at a location that corresponds to an application representation corresponding to a respective application, the device closes the respective application; and, if the touch gesture includes movement by the contact in the first direction and started at a location that corresponds a predefined region in the application switching user interface that is outside of the representations of respective applications, the device ceases to display the application switching user interface and displays an application launching user interface.
