Abstract:
An electronic device presents a first portion of structured content on a display. The structured content includes a plurality of sections and the first portion includes content from a first section of the plurality of sections. The device detects a contact on the touch-sensitive surface, detects an increase in a characteristic intensity of the contact, and detects a movement of the contact. In response to detecting the increase in the characteristic intensity of the contact and the movement of the contact: in accordance with a determination that the characteristic intensity of the contact increases above an intensity threshold, the device translates the structured content to display a start of a second section; and in accordance with a determination that the characteristic intensity of the contact does not increase above the intensity threshold, the device translates the structured content in accordance with a magnitude of the movement of the contact.
Abstract:
The method for manipulating a cursor is performed at a portable multifunction device with one or more processors, memory, and a touch screen display. Initially, content of an electronic document is displayed on the display, where a cursor is displayed within the electronic document. Two substantially simultaneous touch inputs are then detected on the touch screen display, and preferably anywhere on the touch screen display. In response to detecting the two substantially simultaneous touch inputs, a portion of the content in the document closest to the cursor is selected, and the portion of the content is displayed as selected content.
Abstract:
An electronic device with a touch-sensitive surface, a display, and one or more sensors to detect intensity of contacts: displays a plurality of user interface objects in a first user interface; detects a contact while a focus selector is at a location of a first user interface object; and, while the focus selector is at the location of the first user interface object: detects an increase in a characteristic intensity of the contact to a first intensity threshold; in response, visually obscures the plurality of user interface objects, other than the first user interface object, while maintaining display of the first user interface object; detects that the characteristic intensity of the contact continues to increase above the first intensity threshold; and, in response, dynamically increases the amount of visual obscuring of the plurality of user interface objects, other than the first user interface object.
Abstract:
An electronic device with a display, a touch-sensitive surface, and one or more sensors to detect intensity of contacts with the touch-sensitive surface displays a first user interface of a first software application, detects an input on the touch-sensitive surface while displaying the first user interface, and, in response to detecting the input while displaying the first user interface, performs a first operation in accordance with a determination that the input satisfies intensity input criteria including that the input satisfies a first intensity threshold and the input remains on the touch-sensitive surface for a first predefined time period, and performs a second operation in accordance with a determination that the input satisfies tap criteria including that the input ceases to remain on the touch-sensitive surface during the first predefined time period.
Abstract:
An electronic device provides, to a display, data to present a user interface that includes: a plurality of user interface objects, and a current focus on a first user interface object. The device receives an input that corresponds to a gesture detected on a touch-sensitive surface of a user input device. The gesture includes a movement of a contact across the touch-sensitive surface followed by a lift-off of the contact from the touch-sensitive surface. The gesture includes a characteristic movement distance and a characteristic movement speed. In accordance with a determination that the gesture satisfies coasting criteria, the device moves the current focus in the user interface; and decelerates movement of the current focus across the series of user interface objects at a first deceleration rate that is based on: the characteristic movement distance of the gesture, and the characteristic movement speed of the gesture.
Abstract:
While concurrently displaying representations of a plurality of recently used applications, including a first application representation that corresponds to a first application and a second application representation that corresponds to a second application, at least a first portion of a first user input, including first movement of an input object, is detected. If the first movement of the input object includes movement in a first direction that meets first criteria, the representations of the plurality of recently used applications cease to be displayed and an application launching user interface is displayed. If the first movement of the input object includes movement in a second direction that meets second criteria, the representations of the plurality of recently used applications cease to be displayed and a first user interface of the first application is displayed in an enhanced-reachability mode and shifted in a predefined direction at least partially off of the display.
