Abstract: Techniques discussed herein may enable effective cell identification and paging within a non-terrestrial network (NTN). A base station may map logical cell identifiers, corresponding to satellites, to physical cell identifiers, corresponding to physical or geographic cells. The techniques enable cell identification and paging in both Earth-fixed cell scenarios and Earth-moving cell scenarios, and in scenarios where the satellite moves between countries.

Abstract: Techniques discussed herein facilitate cell selection and/or reselection in scenarios involving one or more Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) cells. One example embodiment is a User Equipment (UE) device comprising a processor configured to perform operations comprising: determining one or more suitable cells for one of a cell selection procedure or a cell re-selection procedure, wherein the one or more suitable cells comprise a first cell associated with a satellite of a NTN; determining a ranking for each cell of the one or more suitable cells, wherein the ranking for the first cell is based at least in part on a location of the UE, ephemeris data of the satellite, and one or more additional parameters; selecting a highest ranked cell of the one or more suitable cells based on the determined rankings for each cell of the one or more suitable cells; and camping on the highest ranked cell.

Abstract: A technique for power saving, comprising establishing a radio resource control (RRC) connection with a wireless system, entering an RRC connected mode based on the established RRC connection, receiving, from the wireless system, configuration information indicating a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle time, a DRX on time period, and an offset time, determining an enhanced wake-up signal (EWUS) monitoring occasion for a DRX cycle based on the offset time and the DRX on time period, monitoring, during a first DRX cycle, for an EWUS during the EWUS monitoring occasion associated with the first DRX cycle, receiving, from the wireless system, the EWUS during the EWUS monitoring occasion, determining that the EWUS indicates that the wireless device skip one or more future EWUS monitoring occasions, and skipping monitoring for the EWUS based on the indicated skipped one or more future EWUS monitoring occasions.

Abstract: Systems and methods of a wireless communications system using signals not traditionally used for positioning purposes for positioning measurements in both uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) are described herein. A user equipment (UE) may generate a UE capability information message indicating one or more signal types that the UE can process for DL positioning measurements and/or that the UE can send for UL positioning measurements. The one or more signal types so indicated may include signals not traditionally used for positioning measurements. The UE may send, to the base station, the UE capability information message. The wireless communications system may then configure the base station and/or the UE to use such signal types with one or more positioning methods. In some embodiments, the base station may also indicate to the UE a subset of signals of an indicated type which should be processed for DL measurements/sent for UL measurements.

Abstract: A base station may operate in a context where the propagation delay between the base station and user equipment (UE) devices is large. The base station configures UE devices with a common delay. The base station receives a random access preamble from a UE device. The base station determines a time slot in which the random access preamble was transmitted, based on a configured correspondence between allowable time slots and subsets of an available set of preambles. The base station computes a Random Access Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RA-RNTI) based on parameter values including an index of the determined time slot. The base station employs the computed RA-RNTI to address a random access response for the UE device.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) device may perform random access to a base station in the context where propagation delay between the base station and the UE device is large. The UE device randomly selects a random access preamble from an available set of preambles. The UE device selects a time slot for transmission of the random access preamble based on a configured correspondence between allowable time slots and subsets of the available set. The UE device transmits the random access preamble to a base station in the selected time slot, with timing advance to compensate for a common delay. Thus, the base station, knowing the configured correspondence, is able to determine the time slot in which the random access preamble was transmitted. The UE device receives a random access response that has been addressed with a Random Access Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RA-RNTI).
