Abstract: 1287194 Removing CO 2 from gas mixtures BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 21 Jan 1970 [22 Jan 1969 30 Jan 1969] 2843/ 70 Heading B1L Acid gas comprising carbon dioxide and optionally also hydrogen sulphide is removed from gas streams by scrubbing the stream under pressure at a solvent bottoms temperature of 70-110‹C. with an aqeous 2.5-4.5M solution of methyldiethanolamine which may also contain 0.1-0.4 mole/1, monomethylmonoethanolamine. The scrubbing may be carried out in either a one- or two-stage process. In the former, rich bottoms from countercurrent scrubbing is depressured to release absorbed acid gas before being fully regenerated and passed back to the scrubbing, the overhead gas from regeneration being passed to the depressuring chamber before leaving the system (see Fig. 2, not shown). In the latter, most of the partially regenerated liquid from the depressuring chamber is returned to an intermediate point of the scrubber, while a small proportion is highly regenerated and passed to the scrubber head.
