Abstract: A method for treating plants in need of growth promotion, comprising applying to said plants, to the seeds from which they grow or to the locus in which they grow, a non-phytotoxic, effective plant growth promoting amount of an amide compound having the formula A-CO-NR1R2 in which A is an aryl group or an aromatic or non-aromatic, 5- or 6-membered heterocycle which has from 1 to 3 hetero atoms which are selected from O, N and S; where the aryl group or the heterocycle may or may not have 1, 2 or 3 substituents which are selected, independently of one another, from alkyl, halogen, CHF2, CF3, alkoxy, haloalkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl and alkylsulfonyl; R1 is a hydrogen atom; R2 is a phenyl or cycloalkyl group which may or may not have 1, 2 or 3 substituents which are selected, independently of one another, from alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy, alkenyloxy, alkynyloxy, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, cycloalkyloxy, cycloal- kenyloxy, phenyl and halogen, where the aliphatic and cycloaliphatic radicals may be partially or fully halogenated and/or the cycloaliphatic radicals may be substituted by from 1 to 3 alkyl groups and where the phenyl group may have from 1 to 5 halogen atoms and/or from 1 to 3 substituents which are selected, in dependently of one another, from alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxy, haloalkoxy, alkylthio and haloalkylthio, and where the amidic phenyl group may or may not be condensed with a saturated 5-membered ring which may or may not be substituted by one or more alkyl groups and/or may have a hetero atom selected from O and S.

Abstract: Un método para el tratamiento de plantas que necesitan tal promoción de crecimiento, que comprende aplicar sobre tales plantas, sobre las semillas de las que crecen tales plantas o sobre el lugar donde crecen, una cantidad efectiva, no fitotóxica, promotora del crecimiento de un compuesto de amida de la fórmula I dondeA es un grupo arilo o un heterociclo aromático o no aromático de cinco o seis miembros, que contiene 1 a 3 heteroátomos seleccionados de entre: O, N y S; pudiendo el grupo arilo o el heterociclo contener o no contener 1, 2 ó 3 sustituyentes seleccionados, independientemente, de entre: alquilo, halógeno, CHF2, CF3, alcoxi, haloalcoxi, alquiltio, alquilsulfinilo y alquilsulfonilo;R1 es un átomo de hidrógeno;R2 es un grupo fenilo o cicloalquilo, que pueden contener o no contener 1, 2 ó 3 sustituyentes seleccionados, independientemente, de entre: alquilo, alquenilo, alquinilo, alcoxi, alqueniloxi, alquiniloxi, cicloalquilo, cicloalquenilo, cicloalquiloxi, cicloalqueniloxi, fenilo y halógeno, pudiendo los radicales alifáticos y cicloalifáticos estar parcialmente o completamente halogenados y/o pudiendo los radicales cicloalifáticos estar sustituidos por 1 a 3 grupos alquilo y pudiendo el grupo fenilo llevar 1 a 5 átomos de halógeno y/o de 1 a 3 sustituyentes seleccionados, independientemente, de entre: alquilo, haloalquilo, alcoxi, haloalcoxi, alquiltio y haloalquiltio, y pudiendo el grupo fenilo amídico estar condensado o no condensado con un anillo saturado de cinco miembros, que puede estar sustituido o no sustituido por uno o más grupos alquilo y/o llevar un heteroátomo seleccionado entre O y S.
