    Abstract: A method for treating plants in need of growth promotion, comprising applying to said plants, to the seeds from which they grow or to the locus in which they grow, a non-phytotoxic, effective plant growth promoting amount of an amide compound having the formula A-CO-NR R in which A is an aryl group or an aromatic or non-aromatic, 5- or 6-membered heterocycle which has from 1 to 3 hetero atoms which are selected from O, N and S; where the aryl group or the heterocycle may or may not have 1, 2 or 3 substituents which are selected, independently of one another, from alkyl, halogen, CHF2, CF3, alkoxy, haloalkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl and alkylsulfonyl; R is a hydrogen atom; R is a phenyl or cycloalkyl group which may or may not have 1, 2 or 3 substituents which are selected, independently of one another, from alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy, alkenyloxy, alkynyloxy, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, cycloalkyloxy, cycloal- kenyloxy, phenyl and halogen, where the aliphatic and cycloaliphatic radicals may be partially or fully halogenated and/or the cycloaliphatic radicals may be substituted by from 1 to 3 alkyl groups and where the phenyl group may have from 1 to 5 halogen atoms and/or from 1 to 3 substituents which are selected, in dependently of one another, from alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxy, haloalkoxy, alkylthio and haloalkylthio, and where the amidic phenyl group may or may not be condensed with a saturated 5-membered ring which may or may not be substituted by one or more alkyl groups and/or may have a hetero atom selected from O and S.

    Abstract: The disclosure relates to mixtures comprising: (a) a compound of the formula (I) in which X, m, Q and a are as defined in the specification and (b) one or more ethylene modulators (II) selected from the group consisting of: inhibitors of ethylene biosynthesis inhibitors which block the conversion of ACC into ethylene, selected from the group consisting of: Co++ or Ni++ ions in plant-available forms; phenolic radical scavengers such as n-propyl gallate; polyamines, such as putrescine, spermine or spermidine; structural analogs of ACC, such as alpha-aminoisobutyric acid or L-aminocyclopropene-1-carboxylic acid; salicylic acid or acibenzolar-S-methyl; structural analogs of ascorbic acid which act as inhibitors of ACC oxidase, such as prohexadione-Ca or trinexapac-ethyl; and triazolyl compounds such as paclobutrazol or uniconazole as inhibitors of cytochrome P-450-dependent monooxygenases whose main action is to block the biosynthesisof gibberellins; and inhibitors of the action of ethylene selected from the group consisting of: structural analogs of ethylene such as 1-methylcyclopropene or 2,5-norbornadiene and 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole or Ag++ ions, in a weight ratio of (I) to (II) of from 20 : 1 to 0.05 : 1; with the proviso, that the combination of (1) azoxystrobin, kresoxim-methyl, metominostrobin, trifloxystrobin, picoxystrobin with prohexadione-Ca; and (2) orysastrobin with acibencolar-S-methyl; are excluded. The disclosure also relates to compositions comprising these mixtures and to their use for controlling harmful fungi.
