    Abstract: The invention comprises compounds of the formula wherein R1 and R2 are alkyl; R3 and R4 are hydrogen or the same or different alkyl or cycloalkyl groups, or, together with the nitrogen, may form a hetero-cycle; R5 is substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkenyl or alkinyl; and R6 and R7 may be the same or different C1 to C3 alkyl or hydrogen; X is oxygen, and Y is S, O, SO or SO2. The compounds are prepared by reacting appropriate halo-carboxylic amides with salts of O,O-dialkyl thiol- or O,O-dialkyl dithiophosphoric acids, suitable salts being alkali metal, ammonium, alkaline earth or organic base salts. An example is given for the preparation of a -(O,O-diethyldithiophosphoryl) - b -ethoxypropionic - N - methylamide; other analogous compounds are said to be prepared by corresponding procedures. The compounds are used as insecticides (see Division A5-A6).ALSO:Insecticidal compositions comprise, as active ingredient, compounds of the general formula: wherein R1 and R2 are alkyl; R3 and R4 are hydrogen or the same or different alkyl or cycloalkyl groups, or, together with the nitrogen, may form a heterocycle; R5 is substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, alkenyl, or alkinyl; and R6 and R7 are the same or different C1 to C3 alkyl, or hydrogen; X is O or S, and Y may be O, S, SO, or SO2, together with extenders, solvents, or emulsifiers, and optionally other insecticides.
