Abstract:
A CONTINUOUS PROCESS FOR THE CHLORINATION OF RELATIVELY COARSE PARTICLED HIGH PRESSURE POLYETHYLENE AS A SUSPENSION OF 2-6 MM. PARTICLES IN A LIQUID CHLOROHYDROCARBON WITH WITHDRAWAL OF THE CHLORINATED POLYETHYLENE AS A SOLUTION IN THE CHLOROHYDROCARBON.
Abstract:
The invention comprises compounds of the formula: where R1 and R2 are alkyl radicals, X is oxygen or sulphur, Y is a radical NR3R4 wherein R3 and R4 are hydrogen or alkyl or R3 and R4 together with the nitrogen make up a heterocyclic ring, and Z is a radical NR3R4 as defined or an alkoxy radical. These compounds are prepared by reacting a salt of an O, O - dialkylthiolphosphoric acid or O, O-dialkyldithiophosphoric acid with a compound ZCO.CHHal.COY; or by reacting a compound ZCO.CH(SH).COY or a salt thereof with an O,O-dialkylthionophosphoric acid chloride or O,O-dialkylphosphoric acid chloride. The compounds of the invention are insecticides (see Group VI).ALSO:The invention comprises insecticidal compositions containing a compound of formula where R1 and R2 are alkyl radicals, X is oxygen or sulphur, Y is a radical NR3R4 wherein R3 and R4 are hydrogen or alkyl or R3 and R4 together with the nitrogen make up a heterocyclic ring, and Z is a radical NR3R4 as defined or an alkoxy radical (see Group IV (b)). These compounds may be made up as dusts by adding solid extenders, as sprays by adding dispersing, wetting and/or sticking agents to solid or liquid preparations, or as solutions or emulsions. Fungicides and/or other insecticides may be incorporated in the compositions. Examples use aqueous emulsions.

[Also in Division A5] The invention comprises compounds of formula where R is Me or Et, X is Me or Br, Y is Cl or Br and Z is H or Cl. They may be prepared by reacting ClCH 2 SCH 2 CX=CYZ with an O,O- dialkyl phosphorodithioic salt. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 916,490.
Abstract:
The invention comprises phosphorus compounds of the general formula wherein R is a methyl or ethyl radical which may be substituted, R1 is hydrogen or methyl of ethyl, X is oxygen or sulphur and n is an integer from 1 to 5. They may be obtained by reacting the corresponding O,O-dialkyl (or substituted alkyl) thio (or dithio) phosphoryl fatty acid with phosgene or oxalyl chloride, the reaction when phosgene is used being carried out in the presence of an N,N-dialkyl (or N-cyclic alkylene) substituted carboxylic acid amide of a C1-C4 aliphatic carboxylic acid or an N-alkyl substituted lactam. The substituted amide or lactam is used in small amount and if desired may also be present when oxalyl chloride is used. The reaction is suitably carried out at between 0 DEG and 100 DEG C., preferably between 20 DEG and 60 DEG C., and an inert solvent may be present, e.g. an aromatic hydrocarbon or a halogenated hydrocarbon,e.g. carbon tetrachloride or chlorobenzene. Detailed examples are given for the production of O,O-dimethyldithiophosphorylacetyl chloride, and a - and b - (O,O - diethyldithiophosphoryl)-propionyl chloride. O,O - dimethyldithiophosphorylacetyl chloride may be reacted with methyl amine to form O,O - dimethyldithiophosphorylacetic acid N-methylamide.
