    Abstract: A colourless lubricant for gas compressors comprises a turbid suspension of 0.01% to 5% by weight of a hard wax (as defined in the Specification) containing polar groups, e.g. ester, amide or free acid groups, in a colourless lubricating oil, preferably paraffinum liquidum. The wax is montan wax, montan wax acid, montan wax esterified with an alcohol, e.g. ethylene glycol or butylene glycol, or a mixture of a montan wax acid and an ester of a higher alcohol. Calcium salts of montan wax acid may be added to the hard wax in amounts of 10, 20 or 30% by weight.

    Abstract: Ethylene is polymerized in tubular reactors at 1,000-4,000 Atm and 150-300 DEG C. with feeding of cold ethylene at several successive points in the reactor and using up to 10-1% oxygen as catalyst which is added preferably in solution, to the cold ethylene in such amount that the oxygen concentration in the united gas stream at the points of confluence in the reactor is at least 0.5 x 10-3%, preferably 10-3-10-2%, and the speed of the reaction mixture in the reactor is at least 2.5 m/sec., e.g. up to 10 m/sec. The main ethylene stream may first be heated to e.g. 170-200 DEG C. The cold ethylene stream may be at 10-100 DEG C. and the oxygen concentration may be higher in the second cold ethylene stream than in the first. The oxygen may be dissolved in water, alcohols, e.g. methanol, or hydrocarbons e.g. benzene. The polyethylene may be used to form articles or tubular film.

    Abstract: A process for removing solvent from polyethylene produced in a high pressure continuous process and from the low-pressure recycle gas comprises the steps of separating the polyethylene from the reaction mixture in a high pressure separator 10 at a pressure of more than 150 atmospheres and while maintaining a definite level of liquid therein is decompressed into a low-pressure separator 13 from which the entrained residual ethylene and solvent are led through a gas cooler 23 into a third separator 24 where the ethylene is substantially freed from solvent and led at atmospheric pressure with the remaining solvent to a countercurrent heat-exchanger 26. The ethylene separated in the high-pressure separator with the bulk of the solvent is cooled in a precooler 16, part of this is expanded and separated from the solvent in a low-temperature separator 19 and returned through said heat-exchanger 26 and a second heat-exchanger 28 to the precompressor 3 where it is mixed with fresh ethylene 1. The remainder of the ethylene from the precooler 16 is further cooled in an after-cooler 21 and supplied to the after-compressor 5 before passing to the reaction vessel 7. Solvent is removed from the system by valves 20 and 25 and enters the system by valve 31. Polyethylene is removed through valve 14.
