Abstract: Hydrogenation of oligonitriles exhibiting at least two nitrile groups, in the presence of a catalyst, which is pre-treated before the hydrogenation process by contacting with a compound A, where the compound A is alkaline metal carbonates, alkaline-earth metal carbonates, ammonium carbonate, alkaline metal hydrogencarbonate, alkaline-earth metal hydrogencarbonate, ammonium hydrogencarbonate or alkaline-earth metal oxycarbonate. Independent claims are included for: (1) an oligo amine or amino nitrile, obtained from an oligo nitrile; (2) a catalyst comprising a metal from group VIII to X, which is pretreated with the compound A, where the cobalt or nickel catalyst is pre-treated with compound A excluding alkali metal carbonate or alkali metal hydrogen carbonate; and (3) a method for preparing the catalyst comprising treating a metal from the group VIII to X with the compound A.

Abstract: A process for selectively separating H2S from a gas mixture which also comprises CO2 is disclosed. A stream of the gas mixture is contacted with an absorbent solution comprising one or more amines, alkanolamines, hindered alkanolamines, capped alkanolamines, or mixtures thereof. The H2S/CO2 selectivity of the absorbent solution is preferably greater than about 4.0 for an acid gas loading [mol(CO2 + H2S)/mol(amine)] between about 0.2 and about 0.6, and is achieved by reducing pH of the absorbent solution.

Abstract: Catalyst carrier (I), preferably of metallic oxide of the group 4, where the catalyst carrier exhibits an essential monomodal pore radius distribution. Independent claims are included for: (1) a catalyst comprising (I) and a catalytic active material; (2) the preparation of the catalyst comprising converting catalyst carrier with at least bimodal pore radius distribution into catalyst carrier with monomodal pore radius distribution; providing an active component on the catalyst carrier; and drying the obtained catalyst, where the steps of providing and drying is repeated several time to obtain the product; (3) a procedure for the preparation of the catalyst carrier comprising treating (I) with at least bimodal pore radius distribution to obtain an essentially monomodal pore radius distribution; and (4) a procedure for recycling the catalyst containing catalyst carrier comprising two successive steps, in which the catalyst is heated in presence of oxygen with the condition that in each following steps, the temperature and oxygen content lies more higher with the previous steps.
