    Abstract: Condensates based on cross-linking prods. of caprolactam (I), alkylenepolyamines (II), epichlorhydrin (III) are obtd. by (1) reacting 1 mole (II) of formula NH2-(C2H4NH)xH (IIa; in which x is an integer is not 2) with 1-4 (2-3) mole (I) and then (2) with 0.1-4 (1-2) mole (II) of formula NH2(CnH2nNMe)y-(CnH2NH)zH (IIb; in which y and z are is not 1; n is not) and 1.1-5 (2-3) mole omega, omega'-dicarboxylic acid (IV) with 2-8 C in the hydrocarbon skeleton and the (3) cross-linking with 0.2-2 mole (III) in aq. soln. at 30-100 degrees C. Besides their use for imparting wet strength to paper, these condensates can be used in aq. soln. as textile finish, filler retention aid for paper, flocculant, fixative and for fixing plastics films with cellulosic materials. Pref. (IIa) has x = 2-5, esp. 2, (IIb) is bis(3-aminopropyl)- or bis(2-aminoethyl)methylamine and their homologues and (IV) is glutaric acid or adipic acid.
