Abstract: Fluorocarbonic acid derivatives have the formula (I). (where RF is a highly fluorinated C1-11 alkyl group; R1 and R2 are each H or CH3; A is C2-4 alkylene; and n is 0, 1 or 2) and are prepd. by reacting 1 mole ester II with at least one/mole epimine III, or at lesat 2 moles epimine IV. (where R is C1-4 alkyl). The reaction is carried out at -20 to +80 degrees C, in an inert solvent in the presence of a tertiary amine. Cmpds. I easily polymerise in the presence of acids, and are primarily useful as oleophobic finishing agents for natural and synthetic fibres. Wash resistant finishes are obtained. Cmpds. I are also useful as fungicides.

Abstract: A process for the manufacture of polyalkylenepolyamines by reacting a primary or secondary amine with a compound of the formula (I) where X is -Cl, -Br, or -OSO3H and R1 and R2 are H or saturated alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and with at least the stoichiometric amount, based on the compound of the formula I, of an aqueous solution, of from 15 to 45 percent strength, of an alkali metal hydroxide or alkaline earth metal hydroxide, at from 60 DEG to 200 DEG C., cooling the reaction mixture to a temperature at which 2 aqueous phases form, and separating off the upper phase, containing polyalkylenepolyamnines. The rate of reaction can be increased by adding catalytic amounts of compounds which initiate the polymerization of alkyleneimines.

A process for the preparation of reaction products of alkanolamines with unsaturated fatty acids of 12 to 30 carbon atoms or fatty acid mixtures of 12 to 30 carbon atoms containing unsaturated constituents by reacting the components at elevated temperature, wherein the fatty acid component and at least one dialkanolamine of 2 or 3 carbon atoms per hydroxyalkyl radical are allowed to act on one another in a molar ratio of 1:1.0 to 1.6 at a temperature of from 110 to 140 degrees C in the absence of solvents, and the reaction is discontinued when the reaction mixture has an acid number of 45 to 75.
