Abstract: Metal-polyurethane-metal sandwich elements are produced by fixing the metal layers so as to form a space for the plastic, sealing off this space leaving filler opening(s) and other opening(s), checking the seal by measuring pressure differences at the openings, then filling the space with (a) isocyanates and (b) polymer-polyols. Production of composite elements with a layer structure comprising (i) 2-20 mm metal, (ii) 10-300 mm polyisocyanate-polyaddition product obtained by reacting (a) isocyanates with (b) polymer-polyols and (iii) 2-20 mm metal, involves fixing layers (i) and (iii) so as to form a space (R) for layer (ii), sealing off this space except for opening(s) for filling and other opening(s), and checking the seal by measuring pressure differences at the openings before filling the space with (a) and (b).
