Abstract: A process for isolating a conjugated diolefin from a C4- or C5-hydrocarbon mixture containing the diolefin, by single-stage or multi-stage extractive distillation using a selective solvent, wherein the selective solvent is a solvent mixture which comprises: a) from 75 to 98 per cent by weight of an N-alkylsubstituted lower aliphatic acid amide or of an N-alkylsubstituted alicyclic acid amide having 5 ring members, boiling at from 140 to 260.degree.C, or butyrolactone or methoxypropionitrile and b) from 2 to 25 per cent by weight of acetonitrile.

Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a process for obtaining isobutene from a C4-hydrocarbon mixture containing isobutene, which comprises the steps for reacting the mixture continuously with a primary C3-or C4-alcohol in the presence of an ion exchanger in its acid form as a condensing agent to form the corresponding C3- or C4-alkyl tert-butyl ether by feeding the primary C3- or C4-alcohol and the C4hydrocarbon mixture with or without prior mixing, to an etherification reaction zone which contains the ion exchanger, while maintaining the exit temperature of the reaction mixture from the etherification reaction zone at from 25 to 65.degree.C and the quotient of the volume of the etherification reaction zone and the throughput of the C4-hydrocarbon mixture and the primary C3- or C4-alcohol at from 0.01 to 5 hours; distilling the reaction mixture obtained from the etherification reaction zone in a first distillation zone, taking off as the top product without water washing a C4-hydrocarbon mixture comprising the unconverted hydrocarbons and not more than 1,000 ppm by weight of the primary C3- or C4-alcohol and taking off as the bottom product the resulting C3- or C4alkyl tert-butyl ether, which may contain therein primary C3- or C4-alcohol which may have been added in excess; feeding the bottom product to a second reaction zone, containing an acid catalyst, in which the C3- or C4-alkyl tert-butyl ether is decomposed at an elevated temperature to give isobutene and primary C3- and C4-alcohol; feeding the mixture of isobutene and primary C3- and C4-alcohol produced in the decomposition step to a second distillation zone, taking off as the top product without a water wash isobutene containing not more than 500 ppm by weight of primary C3-or C4alcohol and taking off as the bottom product the remaining primary C3- or C4-alcohol produced in step (c); and recycling the primary C3- or C4-alcohol which is the bottom product of step (d) to the etherification reaction zone.

Abstract: Isoprene is recovered from a C5-hydrocarbon mixture containing isoprene, penta-1,3-diene and cyclopentadiene by separating the said mixture by liquid-liquid extraction or extractive distillation with the aid of a selective solvent, in combination with a distillation upstream or downstream from the liquidliquid extraction or extractive distillation, by a method in which a stream containing penta-1,3-diene and cyclopentadiene is separated off in the upstream or downstream distillation and is catalytically hydrogenated, and the hydrogenated stream is fed to the upper part of the liquid-liquid extraction or extractive distillation.

Abstract: A conjugated diolefin and/or an olefin or olefin mixture are recovered from a C4- or C5-hydrocarbon mixture which contains the conjugated diolefin and/or the olefin or olefins, hydrocarbons which are more sparingly soluble in the selective solvent than are the said diolefin and/or olefin or olefins, and hydrocarbons which are more readily soluble in the said solvent than these are, by a process in which the C4- or C5hydrocarbon mixture is separated, by means of extractive distillation, into a distillate containing the more sparingly soluble hydrocarbons, a product stream containing the conjugated diolefin and/or the olefin or olefin mixture, and a stream containing the more readily soluble hydrocarbons.

Abstract: of the disclosure: A process for isolating a conjugated diolefin from a C4- or C5-hydrocarbon mixture containing the diolefin, by single-stage or multi-stage extractive distillation using a selective solvent, wherein the selective solvent is a solvent mixture which comprises (a) from 50 to 98 percent by weight of an N-alkyl-substituted lower aliphatic acid amide or of an N-alkyl-substituted alicyclic acid amide having 5 ring members and (b) from 2 to 50 percent by weight of an aliphatic ether boiling at from 30.degree.C to 200.degree. of the general formula R-O-R', where the aliphatic radical R is a hydrocarbon radical of 1 to 6 carbon atoms and the aliphatic radical R' is a hydrocarbon radical of 2 to 6 carbon atoms, or a dialkyl ether of a dihydric alcohol boiling at from 30.degree.C to 200.degree.C, of the general formula R1-¢OCH2-CHR-!nOR2, where R is hydrogen or CH3, R1 and R2 are each a hydrocarbon radical of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and n is an integer from 1 to 3, or an alicyclic ether boiling at from 50.degree.C to 125.degree.C.
