The supply of material to a high frequency drying zone is controlled by an arrangement responsive to the D. C. power input of the generator producing the high frequency drying field. As shown, the amount of granular or pulverulent material 3 supplied to a heating zone 2 by a uniformly moving conveying means is controlled by a delivery means 8, such as a throttle, responsive to a control signal derived over a regulator 6 from the D. C. input 4 of the high frequency generator 1 supplying the heating zone 2. The arrangement ensures that the material is supplied to the zone 2 at a rate such that the generator 1 operates at full power without overloading. The control signal may be compared with a predetermined reference signal 7 in the regulator 6.
