    Abstract: Procedimiento para desactivar y recuperar trifluoruro borico en la obtencion de poliisobutenos por polimerizacion cationica de isobuteno o corrientes de hidrocarburo que contienen isobuteno, en la fase liquida, en presencia de trifluoruro borico como tal o en forma de un complejo catalitico, que contiene trifluoruro borico, en donde se separa el complejo de catalizador como fase substancialmente liquida de la descarga del reactor, cuyo procedimiento esta caracterizado porque a) se adiciona a la descarga del reactor de polimerizacion a 60 hasta 0 degree C metanol, etanol o una mezcla de metanol y etanol en una cantidad suficiente, para que se precipite una fase alcoholica rica en triufluoruro borico, y b) se separa la fase alcoholica segun (a) y c) se recicla el trifluoruro borico de la fase alcoholica segun (b) en forma apropiada al procedimiento.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for deactivating and recovering boron trifluoride when producing polyisobutenes by means of cationic polymerisation of isobutene or hydrocarbon streams containing isobutene in the liquid phase in the presence of boron trifluoride or in the form of a boron trifluoride catalyst complex. Said catalyst complex is separated, essentially in the liquid phase, from the reactor discharge. Said method contains the following steps, a) removing from the polymerisation reactor at -60 to 0 ~C, methanol, ethanol or a mixture of methanol and ethanol in such a quantity that an alcohol phase rich in boron trifluoride is deposited b) separating the alcohol phase according to (a) and, (c) from the alcohol phase according to (b) is reintegrated into the inventive method in a suitable manner if desired.
