Abstract: The present invention provides a method for using medical tubing for infusing therapeutic fluids to a patient comprising the steps of: providing a medical tubing (10) having a sidewall of a polymeric blend, the blend having a polymeric material in an amount by weight within the range of 99.999 % - 90.0 %, and an additive in an amount by weight within the range of 0.001 % - 10 %, the tubing (10) having been oriented along a longitudinal axis of the tubing (10) to define an oriented diameter that is less than a diameter of the tubing (10) before orienting; and providing fluid under pressure through the tubing (10) to the patient.

Abstract: A polymer blend for fabricating medical products such as a tubing for an infusion pump are disclosed, wherein the polymer blend comprises: a first 1,2 polybutadiene present from about 1% to about 99% by weight of the blend and having a first melting point temperature; and a second 1,2 polybutadiene present from about 1% to about 99% by weight of the blend and having a second melting point temperature higher than the first melting point temperature and not greater than 120 Deg C. The medical devices or products made from these polybutadiene polymer blends may be sterilized by exposing the medical devices to a sterilizing radiation from about 15kGys to about 45kGys.

Abstract: 1.- Una mezcla de polímeros, para fabricar productos médicos, que comprende:un primer 1,2 polibutadieno, presente en de aproximadamente 1% a aproximadamente 99 por ciento en peso de la mezcla, y que tiene una temperatura de primer punto de fusión; y un segundo 1,2 polibutadieno, presente en de aproximadamente 1% a aproximadamente 99% en peso de la mezcla, y que tiene una temperatura de segundo punto de fusión que es superior a la temperatura del primer punto de fusión.2.- La mezcla de acuerdo con la reivindicación 1, en la cual la temperatura de primer punto de fusión es inferior a aproximadamente 100 grados centígrados.3.- La mezcla de acuerdo con la reivindicación 1, en la cual la temperatura de primer punto de fusión es inferior a aproximadamente 90 centígrados. 4.- La mezcla de acuerdo con la reivindicación 1, en la cual el primer 1,2 polibutadieno es un primer 1,2 polibutadieno sindiotáctico.5.- La mezcla de acuerdo con la reivindicación 4, en la cual el primer 1,2 polibutadieno es un 1,2 polibutadieno sindiotáctico de baja cristalinidad. 6.- La mezcla de acuerdo con la reivindicación 4, en la cual el segundo 1,2 polibutadieno es un segundo 1,2 polibutadieno sindiotáctico.7.- La mezcla de acuerdo con la reivindicación 6, en la cual el segundo 1,2 polibutadieno sindiotáctico es un segundo 1,2 polibutadieno sindiotáctico de baja cristalinidad.
