Abstract: 1388208 Laminates BAYER AG 5 Dec 1972 [9 Dec 1971] 56043/72 Heading B5N [Also in Division C1] A composite substrate body for use in plant cultivation is produced by bonding with an adhesive compatible with the physiology of plants an upper foam resin panel made of hard or semi-hard open-celled hydrophobic polyurethane to one or more lower panels obtained by bonding particles of foam resin. The upper panel which may have a density of 8-50 kg./m. 3 may contain a pigment to impart thereto a dark colour, and algicides, bactericides or fungicides. The particles used to produce the lower panels may be in the form of flakes shavings or dust having a particle diameter of 1-30 mm. and may be of hydrophilic opencelled polyurethane foam, preferably size reduced foam plastics waste produced in the production of the upper panel. The lower panels may contain capillary active, water absorbing, natural or synthetic absorptive substances, buffers, plant nutrients, trace elements, growth regulating substances, fungicides, bactericides and algicides, examples of which are given. The lower bonded panel may comprise two parts, an upper part which contains nitrate, phosphate, potassium and optionally boron, iron and zinc, which is glued, stitched or tacked to a lower part containing sparingly soluble full component fertilizers comprising anions NO 3 -, H 2 PO 4 - and SO 4 = and cations K +, Ca + + and Mg + +. Growth hormones and plant nutrients may be included in the adhesive used to bond the upper and lower panels together.

Abstract: A method of preserving cut flowers and other parts of plants which have been cut off, comprising placing the flowers or parts of plants in water containing an N-(trifluoromethyl)-N-(dichlorofluoromethylsulphenyl)-aminobenzoic acid, or salt thereof, of the formula in which M is hydrogen or 1 equivalent of an alkali metal atom or of an alkaline earth metal atom, and R is hydrogen, methyl, methoxy, trifluoro-methyl, chlorine or nitro. The active material can be employed in the form of a composition also containing water, a carbohydrate and a salt of magnesium, boron or aluminum. It can be held as a dry concentrate on a carrier such as kieselguhr, a natural or synthetic zeolite or alumina.

Abstract: 1. Agrochemical agents based on biomasses which have been subjected to a condensation reaction with carbonyl compounds, thiocarbonyl compounds and/or carbonyl compounds which are in dissociation equilibrium with low-molecular, non-condensed N-alkylol compounds, in an aqueous medium, if appropriate in the presence of a catalyst and optionally in the presence of additives, characterised in that they contain at least one modified biomass, which are obtained - by subjecting biomasses of the most diverse nature to a condensation reaction with carbonyl compounds, thiocarbonyl compounds and/or carbonyl compounds which are in dissociation equilibrium with low-molecular, non-condensed N-alkylol compounds, in an aqueous medium, if appropriate in the presence of a catalyst and optionally in the presence of additives, - by then subjecting the unreacted carbonyl compounds, thiocarbonyl compounds and/or carbonyl compounds which are in equilibrium with low-molecular, non-condensed N-alkylol compounds, to a condensation reaction with aminoplast-forming agents which optionally contain N-alkylol groups, or with phenoplast-forming agents, in an aqueous medium, if appropriate in the presence of a catalyst and if appropriate in the presence of chain stoppers and optionally in the presence of additives and - if appropriate by then freeing the modified biomasses thus formed from undesired substances still contained therein and/or by subjecting them to an after-treatment.
