Abstract: PURPOSE:To attain a highly precise translation processing by returning a second language to a first language through a third language and executing translation into the second language through the use of third language information in which original input information can be obtained at the time of translation from the first language into the second language. CONSTITUTION:An English-English dictionary 11b is provided for a mainbody memory 11 and the bidirectional dictionary 12b of German-English/English- German and the bidirectional dictionary 13b of French-English/English-French are provided. For translating inputted German information into French, input language information is translated into English by using the dictionary means 12b and all obtained language information by English are translated into German by using the dictionary means 12b. When same information as input language information is obtained in obtained language information by German, all lan guage information obtained by the result of translation into French by using the dictionary means 13b as against language information by English is set to be a translation result. Thus, only the word of an appropriate semantic can be outputted.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to change the timing for releasing a thermal transfer material after recording and to record with a plurality of tones, by a construction wherein a guide member for the thermal transfer material which member is a means for changing the timing for releasing the transfer material from a recording paper is driven by utilizing a drive source for turning a thermal head up and down. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 17 and a guide member 31 can be turned with a shaft 32 as a center, with a phase difference therebetween. With a command for rotating a shaft 33 generated, only the thermal head 17 is turned, and a thermal transfer paper 19 is pressed against a recording paper 2. When the material 19 is released from the paper 2 immediately after applying thermal energy to the material 19, only a second ink layer 23 is transferred to the paper 2. In another operation, both the thermal head 17 and the guide member 31 are turned, thermal energy is applied to the transfer material 19, they the material 19 and the paper 2 are moved in close contact with each other under a pressing action of the guide member 31, and the material 19 is released from the paper 2. In this case, both a first ink layer 22 and the second ink layer 23 are transferred to the paper 2.

In no recording time, by stopping the application of current to a solenoid 38, the plunger 40 of the recording head 4 goes back in the arrow D direction, and the carriage moves in the arrow B direction. Then, the ink discharge opening 5 comes in contact with the roller 46.
