Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink cartridge which can not be refilled with ink substantially. SOLUTION: A print head 23 is formed at the lower part of a cartridge body 21 integrally therewith while being partitioned internally into an intermediate chamber 24 and two outer side chambers 25, 26 surrounding it. The intermediate chamber 24 and the outer side chambers 25, 26 are arranged with an ink absorbing member and filled with three color inks of magenta, cyan and yellow, respectively. An inner cover 28 and a member 31 for forming an upper outer chamber 31 are bonded sequentially thereon by thermal fusion or adhesion. The atmosphere conduct the ink chambers 24, 25, 26 through the atmosphere conduction hole 33 of the member 31, an atmosphere chamber 32 and a conduction hole 29. Although the holes of the outer side chambers 25, 26 can be closed after ink is refilled from the side face by making a hole, the hole in the wall of an intermediate chamber can not be closed and refill of ink makes no sense.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer generating no color mixture between nozzle rows emitting inks of different colors even if wiping cleaning is performed by a wiping member. SOLUTION: Ink repelling regions 37 are formed to the vicinal parts of a large number of emitting nozzles 35 constituting four nozzle rows emitting four color inks of the ink emitting surface of a printing head 34 by using a material making the contact angle of an ink drop larger than 90 deg. and ink-philic regions 38 are formed to regions other than the vicinity of the emitting nozzles, that is, the regions between the nozzle rows by using a material bringing the contact angle of an ink drop to below 90 deg.. Since the potential energy of the inks bonded to the ink repelling regions 37 becomes lower than that of the inks bonded to the ink-philic regions 38, bonded inks 39 are ready to gather to the ink-philic regions 38 low in potential energy as shown by arrows a, b, c, d. Therefore, even if wiping is performed by a single cleaning blade, the surface of the printing head 34 is cleaned without generating the color mixture of inks.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer in which ink clogging is surely prevented and also utilization efficiency of ink is remarkably improved. SOLUTION: A head support member 16 for supporting a printing head 15 has therein an ink introducing passage 19 in which ink flows from an ink tank 17 situated above and a cleaning-liquid supply passage 22 in which a cleaning liquid flows from a cleaning-liquid tank 33 situated blow. At the time of printing, an opening/closing valve 18 is opened and ink is supplied to a heating element 42 from the ink introducing passage 19 via an ink receiving/feeding hole 44, a common ink supply groove 43 and an ink passage 41. At the time of recovery discharge, the opening/closing valve 18 is closed, a cap member 26 comes into close contact with a printing head 15, an opening/closing valve 32 is opened, and a suction pump 28 is driven, so that the cleaning liquid in the cleaning-liquid tank 33 is sucked and is allowed to flows into a cap 26-1 from an ink-discharging nozzle 37 after passing through a cleaning-liquid introducing passage 31, a cleaning-liquid receiving/feeding hole 45, the common ink supply groove 43 and the ink passage 41, and then recovered into a waste- liquid storage member 29.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical and practical ink jet head arranged to eject an ink drop in the direction normal to the heating plane of a heating element. SOLUTION: As an initial manufacturing process of ink jet head, a drive circuit and the terminals thereof are formed on a silicon substrate followed by formation of an oxide film, wiring electrodes, fine resistors (heating elements 15) of Ta-Si-SiO, for example, and electrodes (common electrode 12, individual wiring electrodes 14) of Ni, for example, before determining the position and shape of the heating element 15. The heating element 15 is formed into a square having dimensions inscribing a circle 23' of same diameter as an orifice. An allowance of 2.0 μm-3.0 μm, i.e., limit accuracy, is set between the heating element 15 and a barrier wall formed on three sides thereof.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent clogging of an ink liquid channel by keeping a constant interval between a substrate and an orifice plate in an ink trench serving as the ink liquid channel. SOLUTION: An orifice plate 5 is arranged on a silicon substrate 7 through ink barrier walls 3a-3e and an ink seal part barrier wall 3 and an ink trench 6 having depth corresponding to the height of the ink barrier walls 3a-3e is made between the silicon substrate 7 and the orifice plate 5. An orifice 5' is made at a position corresponding to the heating resistor 8 of the orifice plate 5. Posts 2a-2h are arranged in the region between an ink supply path 1 and the ink barrier walls 3a-3e wherein the height of the posts 2a-2h is set equal to that of the ink barrier walls 3a-3e. When these posts 2a-2h are arranged in the region of the ink trench 6 and the orifice plate 5 is supported on the silicon substrate 7, the orifice plate 5 touches the silicon substrate 7 in the ink trench 6 thus preventing the ink trench 6 from being clogged.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal type ink jet printer head wherein a thin protection film having a good insulation property is uniformly attached thereon, thereby achieving a good heating efficiency. SOLUTION: In the print head 30, a thin film is formed, by using a rotary coating device, on a common electrode 39, a heating section 36, an individual wiring electrode 41 and a passivation film 34 by a film-forming coating liquid of a silicon compound or one to which a glassy material is added. The thin film is dried by a hot plate and is baked in a kiln to form a rotary coating film 48 for smoothing a step. After a surface inclination of a step in a hung-over portion formed on each of a side wall 39a of the common electrode 39 and a side wall 41a of the individual wiring electrode 41 is alleviated, an insulation film 49 of SiO2 having a uniform thickness is formed on the rotary coating film 48 by a spattering as a physical vapor growth method, a vacuum deposition method or a chemical vapor growth to form the two-layer structural protection film 50. It is possible to obtain a good insulation property in any portion by the insulation film 49 having the uniform thickness.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent breakdown of a printing head or a printer body due to a refilling ink of an unknown origin by substantially preventing refilling of an ink by forming projecting parts with a specific pitch and height on the side wall surface of the outer wall of a printing head integral type cartridge. SOLUTION: An ink cartridge 30 comprises a cartridge body 31 produced integrally with a printing head by jointing such as die bonding, with the inside partitioned into three ink rooms 33. An inner lid 35 with air continuity holes 34 formed at positions corresponding to each ink room 33 is fixed thereon by thermal fusion or adhesion. Furthermore, an outer lid 38 with an atmosphere continuity hole 36 and an atmosphere room 37 is fixed thereon by thermal fusion or adhesion. An ink supply hole for a printing head 32 is provided on the bottom surface of each ink room 33 with an ink absorbing member disposed inside. Projecting parts 39 having a 10 mm or less pitch P and a 0.1 mm or more height D are formed on at least four surfaces of the outer wall surface so as to prevent closure after opening a hole or refilling.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To narrow a cutting margin when a semiconductor chip is cut and facilitate processing of a frame. SOLUTION: Ink feed holes 29 and chip division grooves 30 are formed at a semiconductor wafer 22. A thermal release sheet 31 is attached to a face where the ink feed holes 29 and chip division grooves 30 are formed. The semiconductor wafer 22 is polished from the other face by back lapping or the like manner to the chip division grooves 30. At this time, an adhesion of the thermal release sheet 31 is weakened by heat applied to the thermal release sheet, whereby the semiconductor wafer is divided to individual semiconductor chips 22. A head frame of a simple structure with connection grooves is fixedly set to the semiconductor chips 22 and an ink container connection member is further mounted. Accordingly, ink can be supplied to the semiconductor chips 22 with the use of the head frame of the simple constitution.
