    Abstract: There are described 2-mercapto-5-thiazol(2-, 4- or 5-yl)-1,3,4-oxa- and -thiadiazoles and 2-mercapto-5-oxazol(2-, 4- or 5-yl)-1,3,4-oxa- and -thiadiazoles of the formula I in which X1 and X2 independently of one another represent oxygen or sulphur, R1 represents C1-C5-alkyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, C1-C3-alkoxy or cyano; C3-C7-alkenyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen; C3-C7-alkynyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, R2 and R3 independently of one another represent hydrogen, C1-C5-alkyl, C3-C7-alkenyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen; phenyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by identical or different substituents from the series comprising C1-C3-alkyl, C1-C3-alkoxy or halogen, the radical -NR4R5, where R4 and R5 independently of one another represent hydrogen, C1-C5-alkyl or C3-C7-alkenyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, or one of the two substituents R2 and R3 also represents an unsubstituted or substituted heterocycle pyridyl, thienyl, furyl or thiazolyl, and processes for the preparation of the compounds of the formula I and novel intermediates of the preparation process. The compounds of the formula I have nematicidal and fungicidal properties. There are described nematicides and fungicides which contain, as active substance, at least one active substance of the formula I, and furthermore methods for using the active substances and the agents in the control of nematodes and fungi.
