A height adjusting valve 1 for overriding the action, of levelling valves 12, 12a which control supply of pressure fluid the front and rear suspension elements 11, 11a of a motor vehicle includes a three-position spool 14 arranged such that in a first position (shown) of the spool a return conduit 8 from the levelling valves 12, 12d communicates with a reservoir 13 and the levelling valves are permitted to exercise normal control over the suspension height, in a second position of the spool 14 both the return conduit 8 and conduits 7, 7a connected directly to the suspension elements 11, 11a are connected to the reservoir so that the vehicle body is maintained at minimum height, and in a third position of the spool 14 the conduits 7, 7a are connected directly to a fluid pressure source 10 so that the body is maintained at maximum height. The spool 14 normally occupies the first position under spring loading 16 and is displaced by a flexible cable 22 connected to a lever 23 actuated by a cam 24 which is rotated by a manual control lever 25.

[Also in Division F2] In a braking pressure limiting device (Division F2) for vehicles equipped with an hydropneumatic suspension system and with a brake system actuated by means of a fluid supplied from a pressure control member in the form of a pedal-actuated master cylinder 20, the pressure limiting device comprises a spring-influenced cylindrical slide valve 9 movable in a valve body 1 and adapted to cut off or restore the delivery of the actuating fluid to the brake cylinders 21, 21a via passages 15, 24 and 15a, the slide valve 9 being subjected to the pressure in the suspension system via lines 19, 19a. In the brake release position the slide valve 9 is in its lowermost position as the spring 13 is not capable of balancing the force of the suspension fluid pressure in chamber 3. When the brakes are applied, pressure is delivered from the master cylinder 20 to the chamber 4 and the brake cylinders 21 and 21a and when the fluid pressure in the chamber 4 reaches a predetermined value the slide valve 9 moves upwardly to close the port of the passageway 15 and hold the brake fluid pressure at this predetermined value. Upon release of the brake pedal operated master cylinder 20, a one-way valve 25 permits return of any fluid contained in the chamber 4 to the master cylinder 20 and the cylindrical slide valve is allowed to resume its lowermost position under the influence of the pressure in the suspension system.
