Abstract:
The present invention relates to an ostomy appliance comprising a front wall and a rear wall of flexible material forming a bag, said rear wall having an opening for receiving a stoma, and being provided with an adhesive wafer for securing the appliance to a user's skin, said wafer having a hole being aligned with the opening for receiving the stoma, wherein the opening of the rear wall has an edge being adapted to be secured to a surface of the adhesive wafer facing away from the user in an attachment zone surrounding the hole of the wafer, and wherein a first part of the edge of the opening of the rear wall is permanently secured to the surface of the wafer in a corresponding first part of the attachment zone, and a second, remaining part of the edge of the opening of the bag is prepared for adhesive sealing of the same to the remaining second part of the attachment zone. This allows for a simple evaluation of the stoma area for cutting the wafer for adapting the same to the specific stoma and manipulation and location of an adhesive wafer in relation to the stoma is enabled.
Abstract:
An appliance for cleansing a surface area of the skin in the form of a set comprising a body side member comprising an adhesive wafer for securing the appliance to the patient's skin, said wafer or pad having an aperture for receiving a stoma, surrounding a wound, a fistula or a drainage site, and further having first coupling means being fixedly connected to the body side member, and a separately applicable cleansing appliance adapted to fit tightly against the surface of the body and being provided with an inlet for injection of liquid and an outlet, said appliance comprising two walls of flexible material the rear wall having an opening suitable for surrounding the surface area of the skin to be cleansed which opening is surrounded by matching second coupling means adapted for removable coupling and sealing to first coupling means of the body side member, and the front wall being provided with an adapter secured sealingly to the wall and having an opening communicating with an opening in the front wall giving access to the internal space between the front and back walls through the adapter which adapter is suitable for being connected to a supply for cleansing liquid, and an outlet opening the adapter has essentially conical shape and wherein the top and narrow part of the cone is directed away from the patient is easily operated by one person, provides a safe and reliable sealing against the body, is suitable for cleansing a surface area of the skin of a patient, reduces the risk that a vacuum may tend to draw the front wall against the rear wall and causing the bag to collapse and is a cheap device that may be used as a disposable device.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a kit comprising at least one base plate for adhesive attachment to the skin around at least one body opening. The kit further comprises at least one separate peripheral device for attachment to the base plate. The base plate comprises a backing layer, having a proximal side facing the user during use, where a skin friendly adhesive is disposed on said proximal side of the backing layer and wherein the base plate is an intact base plate thereby allowing a hole to be cut at a desired position before use. The separate peripheral device comprises a continuous adhesive ring for permanent adhesive attachment between the continuous adhesive ring of the peripheral device and the distal side of the backing layer of the base plate. This allows the user to provide a custom fit for irregular body openings.
Abstract:
An ostomy device that comprises an adhesive wafer for attaching to the skin around the stoma. The wafer comprises an adhesive layer (2) having a proximal adhesive side and a distal side, where the distal side is covered with a backing layer (1). The wafer comprises a central portion and a peripheral portion, and it comprises a proximal section (5) located on the proximal side of the central portion and a distal section (6) visually arranged on the distal side of peripheral portion, wherein the distal section changes colour when the proximal section is exposed to fluid.
Abstract:
A faecal management device suitable for attachment directly to the perianal skin between the buttocks of the wearer. The device utilises an optimised adhesive wafer (1) in order to securely attach the device to the skin of the wearer so that the device is maintained in position for the entire period of wear, including circumstances or periods of wear during which the wearer is active, i.e. not bedridden. In addition the faecal management device of the present invention has the ability for easy application of the device.
Abstract:
An adhesive wafer for an ostomy faceplate or wound dressing comprising a back ing layer (1), said backing layer having one surface facing the skin, said surface comprising a first and a second adhesive zone (2, 3) being separated from each others by a void volume (4), said void volume being defined by the backing layer (5), the first and the second adhesive zones and the skin surface and wherein the first and the second adhesive zones are capable of moving independently of each others with respect to the lateral plane of the backing layer.
Abstract:
A layered adhesive construction comprising a backing layer and a first and second layer of hydrocolloid adhesive, where the first and second layer of hydrocolloid adhesive have different composition, and the second layer of hydrocolloid adhesive is at least partly interposed between the first layer of hydrocolloid adhesive and the backing layer, the first and second adhesive layers consisting of a continuous phase and a discontinuous phase where the discontinuous phase of the first adhesive layer comprises a hydrocolloids providing a higher moisture absorption capacity and higher initial rate of absorption to the adhesive layer than the hydrocolloids in the discontinuous phase of the second adhesive layer, and the discontinuous phase of second layer of adhesive comprises hydrocolloids providing a higher cohesion following moisture absorption to the adhesive compared to the hydrocolloid in the discontinuous phase of the first adhesive layer.
Abstract:
A disposable closure for an artificial intestinal or urethral opening in the form of a body having a cup form having an internal space being capable of accommodating a stoma, characterised in that the rim of the open end of the cup is provided with a flange part stretching essentially perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the closure and that the surface of the flange facing away from the closed end of the cup is provided with a skin-friendly adhesive may be used for safe temporary closing of a stoma without the risk of causing mechanical damage to the stomal wall and which prevents intestinal contents from passing the closure and which is easy to remove after use. It may also be used for protection of the outer surface of a stoma when applying a fresh collecting bag and furthermore as an aid for the user for an easier manner to place a fresh body side member or a one-piece receiving bag "correctly" ensuring a correct coupling and sealing.
Abstract:
The application discloses a body waste collecting device comprising a collecting pouch and an adhesive wafer for attachment to the skin, said wafer comprising a backing layer and a first and second layer of hydrocolloid adhesive, where the second layer of hydrocolloid adhesive is at least partly interposed between the first layer of hydrocolloid adhesive and the backing layer, the first and second adhesive layers consisting of a continuous phase and a discontinuous phase, wherein a)the discontinuous phase of the first adhesive layer comprises pectin, carboxymethyl cellulose, gelatine, guar gum, and potato starch, b)the discontinuous phase of the second adhesive layer comprises carboxymethyl cellulose, gelatine, and guar gum, c)the composition of the continuous phase of the first adhesive layer comprises a polyisobutylene, a styrene block copolymer, a butylrubber, and a tackifier, d)the composition of the continuous phase of the second adhesive layer consists of polyisobutylene and styrene block copolymer.
