Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject spinning dope which gives fibers having excellent dynamic characteristics when spun by a dry spinning method, by dissolving cellulose acetate having a specific acetylation degree and a specified viscosity in a non-halogenated organic solvent containing an ester-based solvent. Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a filter material for tobacco smoke excellent in disintegrability and biodegradability without deteriorating the tobacco flavor. CONSTITUTION: This filter material for tobacco smoke contains cellulosic fibers or powder having the surface coated with a cellulosic ester such as cellulose acetate. Wood pulp, etc., are used as the cellulosic fibers or powder. The amount of the coating cellulosic ester in the coated cellulose is, e.g. >=0.1wt.%. The resultant filter material in the form of fibers and a sheet can be used as a filter for tobacco smoke. The filter material is good in flavor of the tobacco, excellent in biodegradability and disintegrability by wetting and capable of reducing the environmental pollution.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a high-quality cellulose diacetate from a low-grade wood pulp having a low alpha-cellulose content by aging cellulose diacetate obtd. by acetylating the pulp, dissolving the aged cellulose diacetate in a solvent therefor, and recovering the diacetate from the soln. CONSTITUTION:An aged cellulose diacetate is dissolved in a solvent capable of dissolving it and then recovered from the soln. in the process for producing cellulose diacetate contg. the step of acetylating raw material pulp and the aging step. Thus is obtd. cellulose diacetate excellent in filtrability without removing hemicellulose contained in it. The obtd. diacetate has qualities equivalent to those of cellulose diacetate obtd. from a high-grade wood pulp, and thus a heretofore unusable low-grade pulp is made usable.
