Abstract: PURPOSE:To absorb perspiration and eliminate the odor emitted from armpit, by preparing a composition containing a reaction product of a (meth)acrylic acid (co)polymer with a quaternary ammonium salt as an active component and spraying or applying the composition to the armpit. CONSTITUTION:The armpit is sprayed or coated with a composition containing a polymeric quaternary ammonium salt which is a reaction product of (A) a homopolymer of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid or a copolymer of the above monomer and other monomer copolymerizable therewith and (B) a compound of formula [R1-R4 are 1-20C aliphatic hydrocarbon group, or three of the above groups are said hydrocarbon groups and the other one is aralkyl or trialkylammonium-alkyl, or two of the above groups are said hydrocarbon groups and the other two are aralkyl or dialkylphenoxy(or alkylphenoxy) alkylenoxyalkyl, or one or two of the above groups are said hydrocarbon groups and the others form a ring together with N; X is halogen].

Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:A compound of the formula and its hydrate. USE:Antifouling agent, especially effective against marine animals. PREPARATION:An amine such as octyldimethylamine, decanoyldimethylamine, lauryldimethylamine is allowed to react with metaboric acid, orthoboric acid, or tetraboric acid or their mixture to give the compound of the formula. The reaction is carried out at about 140-170 deg.C, preferably at about 140-150 deg.C. The compound is usually applied to fish nets, ship bottoms or mixed with a part of cement for construct structures in the form of a paint as a mixture of a synthetic resin such as an acrylic resin, vinyl acetate resin or chlorinated rubber and a solvent.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a temperature-indicating material which is less affected by external environment, can be utilized for a prolonged period of time and in many various places and exhibits extremely clear color changes and which comprises a particular metal complex salt of hexamethylenetetramine covered with a transparent film forming material. CONSTITUTION:A temperature-indicating material which comprises a member or a mixture of at least two members selected from complex salts of formula I [wherein M is Co(II), Ni(II); X is Cl , Br , I , NO3 , NCS ; hmta is hexamethylenetetramine; and n is 4, 8, 9, 10) e.g., complex salts of formula II, formula III, etc., exhibiting clear color changes as a result of dehydration, covered with a material capable of forming a transparent film having gas permeability and heat resistance (e.g., hydroxyethylcellulose, etc.). When water is used as the solvent, film formation is not accompanied by problems, such as toxicity, inflammability and environment deterioration. Further, by employing a card sheet form, it becomes possible to measure the temp. at curved parts. Still further, the temperature-indicating material is free of a mechanically operate part, has a simple structure and does not suffer any slightest effect of vibration. In industry, the present material is useful for heat sensing and discovering defective circuits. In a medical field, the present material is useful for finding a lesion etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To absorb sweating and eliminate the smell emitted from the armpit, by spraying or applying a composition containing a quaternary ammonium alginate to the armpit. CONSTITUTION:A composition containing preferably 0.5-5wt.% quaternary ammonium salt (e.g. cetyl pyridinium salt, methylbenzethonium and dodecyldimethylbenzylammonium salt) as an active ingredient is sprayed upon or applied to the armpit to prevent the offensive smell of the armpit. The compound is water-insoluble white powder having slight water vapor absorption, has dry touch, excellent soft feeling, relatively mild sterilizing action, no fear of side effects even by continuous use and improved adhesivity to the skin.

The antigerm compound is slightly soluble in water, soluble in an organic solvent and low in toxicity.
