Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent armpit odor, by applying a composition containing a specific compound as an active component to armpit by spraying, etc., thereby absorbing sweat of armpit and deodorizing the smell emitted from the armpit. CONSTITUTION:The composition used in the present process contains a cellulose glycolate quaternary ammonium salt such as cetylpyridinium salt, benzetonium salt, methylbenzetonium salt, dodecyldimethylbenzylammonium salt, tetradecyl dimethylbenzylammonium salt, etc., as an active component. The composition is powder having dry feeling, high adhesivity to the skin and relatively mild microbicidal activity to enable continuous use without causing side effects. The action of bacteria decomposing sweat and generating foul smell can be terminated by the bactericidal action of the above compound and the smell of armpit can be effectively prevented by spraying or coating the above composi tion to armpit. The amount of the above active component in the composition is preferably 0.5-5wt.%. The agreeable feeling of the composition can be further improved by compounding the composition with a sweat absorbent and a lubri cant.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a termite expellent sustaining effects for a long period, having no fear of environmental pollution by washing away, comprising quaternary ammonium salt of carboxymethyl cellulose as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:A termite expellent comprising quaternary ammonium salt of carboxymethyl cellulose which, for example, can be readily synthesized from sodium salt of carboxymethyl cellulose and a quaternary ammonium halide as an active ingredient. The quaternary ammonium salt of CMC is fixed to the surface or the surface layer of wood as a film. Since the film is water- insoluble, it will not flow and since the quaternary ammonium salt has alginic acid as skeleton, it has hydrophilic nature and affinity for wood, penetrated, adsorbed and retained. The amount of the active ingredient used is 0.1-25wt.%.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition having excellent compatibility and forming a film having high strength, by reacting a quaternary ammonium salt with a homopolymer or copolymer of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid and using the resultant polymer quanternary ammonium salt as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective antibacterial agent contains, as an active component, at least one kind of a polymer quaternary ammonium salt (e.g., polyacrylic acid tetradecyl dimethylbenzyl ammonium salt) which is a reaction product of (A) a homopolymer or copolymer of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid (the polymerization degree is preferably 50-20,000) and (B) a compound of formula (R -R are aliphatic hydrocarbon groups; three of them are aralkyl, trialkylammoniumalkyl, etc., or each two of the groups form a ring; X is halogen). The composition has excellent compatibility with another resin to be used as a component of an antibacterial composition, has arbitrarily controllable polymerization degree and is hardly soluble or insoluble in water and soluble in organic solvent.

CONSTITUTION:Equimolar amounts of an alkyldiamine shown by formula I (R1 is 8-18C alkyl) and a compound shown by formula II (R3 is 1-4C alkyl; R4 is H or 1-4C alkyl) are blended in a solventless state, heat is generated, the reaction system is maintained at a given reaction time for a fixed time (20min-2hr) to prepare an acid addition salt. An aqueous solution containing 0.01-2.0wt.% of the acid addition salt is prepared. The prepared treating agent is useful for providing microorganism controlling effects by application to waste such as garbage.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an antimicrobial agent, containing tetraborate of an alkyldimethylamine or hydrate as an active ingredient and capable of sustaining antimicrobial action for a long period with hardly any deterioration of the antimicrobial activity due to an influence of water or moisture. CONSTITUTION:An antimicrobial composition containing a compound expressed by the formula (R is 8-20C alkyl) or hydrate thereof as an active ingredient. The above-mentioned compound is effective both against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, especially against the Gram-negative bacteria and also against molds, useful for nonmedical applications and capable of imparting antimicrobial action to fibers, fabrics, coatings, adhesives, concrete, cement, plastics, etc., by addition thereto. The compound expressed by the formula is obtained by reacting the corresponding alkyldimethylamine with metaboric, orthoboric or tetraboric acid or a mixture thereof.

Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:2-Mercaptopyridine-1-oxide aluminum salt of formula. USE:An algae-proofing and bactericidal agent having high safety to fish and human, exhibiting the effect over a long period and suitable for preventing the growth of algae on a fishing net, especially fishing net for pisciculture. PREPARATION:The compound of formula can be produced by reacting 1mol of 2-mercaptopyridine-1-oxide sodium salt with about >=0.33mol of aluminum chloride in an aqueous solution at about 20-100 deg.C. The objective compound has a solubility of about 20ppm in seawater at normal temperature. It has moderate solubility which is not too high in contrast with the corresponding sodium salt known as an algae-proofing agent or is not abnormally low as in the case of zinc salt. Accordingly, the compound can exhibit the above effects.

The active ingredient can be used as such but usually used in a form of an oil agent prepared by emulsifying the ingredient in water of dissolving the ingredient in an appropriate organic solvent. The active ingredient may be used after mixed with an aqueous emulsion or solvent type coating.

In the formula, R1-R4 are respectively straight chain or branched satd. or unsatd. aliphat. hydrocarbon groups of 1-20C or the three of R1-R3 are the hydrocarbon groups and the one is an aralkyl group or trialkyl ammonium alkyl group or the two of R1-R4 are the hydrocarbon groups and the remaining two are aralkyl and dialkyl phenoxy (or alkyl phenoxy)alkylene oxylalkyl groups or the one or the two of R1-R4 are the hydrocarbon groups and the remaining two or three form a ring with a nitrogen atom and X is a halogen atom.
