L'invention consiste à faire circuler en continu la première phase A liquide, et en discontinu la deuxième phase B liquide ou solide, l'une des chambres de la colonne étant vide, en vue d'y transférer la phase B solide ou liquide, se trouvant dans la chambre immédiatement supérieure; à isoler les deux chambres de toute alimentation tant en phase B solide, qu'en phase A liquide; à dériver un faible quantité du débit de phase A liquide continuant à alimenter les autres chambres de la colonne; à introduire la partie ainsi dérivée du débit de phase A liquide dans la chambres superposée à la chambre vide pour l'entraînement de la phase B solide ou liquide s'y trouvant dans la chambre inférieure vide, et à réintroduire cette partie prélevée du débit de phase A dans le circuit suivi par cette phase.
