Abstract: A system for scheduling wireless data transmissions divides a band allocated to the mobile service carrier into two overlapping bands. Then each user equipment (UE) of a plurality of UEs that connects to the ground-based network of the mobile service carrier is assigned to one of the two overlapping bands. The system allocates at a given scheduling time, physical resource blocks (PRBs) to UEs up to a maximum number of PRBs available for the particular overlapping frequency band to which the UE is assigned based on a metric for the UE that is a ratio of a downlink channel quality indicator for the UE to the average data rate of the UE at the given time, giving higher priority for PRB allocation to UEs that have a larger metric than other UEs of the plurality of UEs.

Abstract: Various arrangements for spectrum sharing among a terrestrial network and a non-terrestrial network are presented herein. The terrestrial network may assign a first bandwidth part of a channel for use for communication between a plurality of user equipment (UE) and the terrestrial network when a high signal strength is present. The terrestrial network may assign a second bandwidth part for use for communication between the plurality of UE and the terrestrial network when a low signal strength is present. The second bandwidth part can overlap with the first bandwidth part. A third bandwidth part can be assigned for use for communication between the plurality of UEs and the non-terrestrial network. The third bandwidth part can overlap with the first bandwidth part but not the second bandwidth part.

Abstract: Various arrangements for using different air interfaces on adjacent frequency channels for side-link communications are presented. A first side-link channel may be split into a first bandwidth portion and the second bandwidth portion, in which the first bandwidth portion of the first side-link channel is directly adjacent to the second side-link channel. A first subcarrier spacing may be assigned to the first bandwidth portion of the first side-link channel. The second side-link channel may also use the first subcarrier spacing. A second subcarrier spacing may be assigned to the second bandwidth portion of the first side-link channel that differs from the fist subcarrier spacing.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards systems and methods for selecting, in a Fifth Generation (5G) cellular telecommunication network, a User Plane Function (UPF) of a plurality of UPFs on which to anchor a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session of a new user equipment (UE) newly appearing on the cellular telecommunication network. The selection is based on: a location of the new UE; a plurality of current loads for each UPF of the plurality of UPFs; a predicted UE load of the new UE based on network data analytics; and predicted UPF loads of the plurality of UPFs as a function of time considering the predicted UE load based on network data analytics from the Network Data Analytics Function. In the UPF selection, the Session Management Function (SMF) gives higher priority to shorter term predicted loads than longer term predicted loads. Also, in the UPF selection, the PDU session of the UE is preferred to attach on the UPF in the current serving area in which the UE is located.

Abstract: Systems and methods of scheduling bit rates for first-class traffic for a first and second class session for a device; honoring for the device each first class session with the bit rate equal to a session aggregate maximum bit rate (AMBR) by a scheduler by assigning a threshold for an aggregate bit rate for traffic for each first-class session; if a total of the aggregate bit rate of traffic for each first class session is below the threshold assigned, then assigning each first class session the session AMBR for first-class session traffic for the device; if the total of the aggregate bit rate of traffic for each first class session is above the threshold assigned, then proportionality scheduling packets of the traffic for the first class session of the device to limit the aggregate rate of the first-class traffic below the threshold.

Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling uplink power in a non-terrestrial network (NTN). An NTN station transmits a reference signal at a first time having a defined transmission power and the reference signal is received by non-terrestrial user equipment. The user equipment evaluates the reference signal and determines a first downlink loss of the reference signal by calculating a difference between a measured power level of the received reference signal and the defined transmission power. The NTN station transmits a communication signal at a second time and is received by the user equipment, which estimates a second downlink loss of the communication signal based on the first downlink loss and a power level of the communication signal. A first uplink loss is estimated based on the second downlink loss, and the user equipment adjusts a transmission power of its transmitter based on the first uplink loss.

Abstract: Various arrangements for transitioning the bandwidth allocation of a base station are presented. Four bandwidth parts may be defined for communication with the base station. At a given time, two of these bandwidth parts may be actively used for communication by different UE for communication with the base station. In response to network traffic, a determination to adjust a bandwidth allocation may be made. A series of transitions may be performed to migrate from the first two of these bandwidth parts to the second two of the bandwidth parts such that interference does not occur.

Abstract: Various arrangements for improving cell coverage are presented. A cellular network can define a first bandwidth part and a second bandwidth part to be implemented concurrently by a base station of the cellular network. The first bandwidth part and the second bandwidth part do not overlap and may be separated by a guard band. The first bandwidth part can have a greater bandwidth and greater sub-carrier spacing than the second bandwidth part. The cellular network can determine a first set of user equipment to use the first bandwidth part for communication with the base station and a second set of user equipment to use the second bandwidth part for communication with the base station. Communication with the first set of user equipment using the first bandwidth part and the second set of user equipment using the second bandwidth part may be performed.
